Ms. Laverne Driver Copeland

Early Saturday morning, September 24th, LaVerne Driver-Copeland heard the call from God in Heaven. "Well done good and faithful servant. You have been faithful with a few things. I will put you in charge of many things, Come and share your master's happiness!" (Matthew 25:21) As in many times in the past, when LaVerne got a directive from God, she responded immediately. She didn't need nor did she look for an okay from her family and loved ones. LaVerne was born in Haynes, Arkansas on February 23,1936. She was the oldest child born to Norvel and Thelma (Evans) Sanders. LaVerne was baptized at an early age. She attended Lee County School District in Haynes, Arkansas. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church until her health failed her. LaVerne married the love of her life, Franklin 1. Copeland on April 3, 1983. They enjoyed the finer things in life and one of those things was traveling around Wisconsin while fishing in their boat. They also enjoyed traveling to visit family in Arkansas and Chicago. And they were members of the North Star Social Club. LaVerne loved to dress and always wore a hat to church. She had such a hat-a-tude and was sharp as a tack! She was an avid chef in her own right, preparing family dinners for every holiday and she worked as the Head Chef at Mr. B's Social Club. LaVerne retired from Star Sprinkler in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. In her pastime, she enjoyed watching her favorite TV game shows, Family Feud, The Price is Right and The Wheel of Fortune. LaVerne was our "Big Sister" and looked out for us throughout the years. She always remembered our birthdays as well as her nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. LaVerne was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin 1. Copeland, her parents, Norvel and Thelma Sanders, three brothers, Norvel Sanders, [r., Abdullah Sujud and Valary Dennis Sanders. LaVerne leaves to cherish her memory, three sisters; Rebecca A. Schaeffer, Naomi M. Miller and Beverly J. Sanders-Waddell (Gasper). One Special Aunt, Veora Dixon. Three nieces, Selena Schaeffer, Kenya Schaeffer, Nikeisha M. Riseling (Matthew) and One nephew, Fred D. Miller, II (Candace), Harold Copeland and Derrick Copeland. Great nieces and nephews; Roderick (Kate), John, Secelie (Tyler), Derrick, Erik, Kayla, Jael, Janel, Ian, Victoria, Caethan, Nevaeh, Viviana, Fred, III, and Cameron and six (6) great-great nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
