Mr. Leander Love Burks II

LEANDER LOVE BURKS, JR. lovingly known as "Lee" or "Humpy" was born to the union of Leander Burks, Sr. and Lynn Burks on January 10th, 1970 in Milwaukee, WI. He began his education at Holy Angels Grade School in Milwaukee. He continued and graduated from Milwaukee Trade and Technical High School in 1988. After graduating high school, Lee joined the United States Marine Corps in San Diego, California. He completed the Marine Corps Engineering School (MCB) as a mechanic in 1989, at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Lee enjoyed being in the Marine Corps; he made many close friends, traveled the world, and lived life to the fullest. He was discharged from the Marines in 1991. In 1994 he became a proud father and started his journey with his daughter until he departed this earth. He was employed by the US Postal Service as a mail handler for over 21 years. In addition, he was an entrepreneur in many different business arenas. He was truly a jack of all trades. Lee met and married the love of his life Sheron Silvera in March, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They met and knew instantly that their union was a divine intervention. He was her source of comfort, joy, companionship, and her soulmate. He was an exceptional man of many talents, a man of wisdom and integrity, a great community leader, activist, youth advocate and educator. He enjoyed playing tennis with his daughter, fishing with family, motorcycle riding, traveling, DJ-ing, entertaining, bike riding, taking long walks with his daughter, walking his dog Ladybird and he loved joking around. Lee was a staunch advocate for the black community and was a part of the fabric of many African Village events and efforts to keep our heritage strong. He touched the lives of many people near and far. He was charismatic with a beautiful sprit and an inspiration to all who knew him. Leander Burks Jr. departed this life on January 19th, 2016. He was preceded in death by his Mother Lynn Burks and Grandparents Robert Sr. and Johnetta Borum. He leaves to cherish his memory, wife Sheron Silvera, daughter Leashia Burks, her mother Chinita Jones, grandchild Le'Nyiah Burks, brother Leandre Burks, father Leander Sr., favorite niece Aleah Burks, and a host of other uncles, aunts, nieces, cousins, and many friends. We honor, his life, deeds, legacy, and contributions to this community
