Mrs. Lee Esther Watkins

Lee Esther Watkins was born on January 31, 1941, in Osyka, Mississippi, to the union of Pearlie and Katie Magee. She received her formal education at Rose Hill School in Magnolia, Mississippi. Lee accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and became a member of Kelly Baptist Church. After relocating to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she was united with Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years under the leadership of Pastor Leroy Mixon and Pastor Martin Childs. She exemplified unwavering faith and dedication as a valued member of the church, actively contributing her time and talents to various positions. She selflessly served in roles such as Missions, the Choir, and the Kitchen. Lee Esther Magee and Willie Watkins, Jr. were united in holy matrimony on January 30th, 1965, in Waukegan, Illinois. Their marriage was blessed with one child, Willie Pernell Watkins. Lee worked at Adelman for several years before dedicating herself as a full-time homemaker. She found joy in cooking, gardening, fishing, going on cruises, entertaining family and friends and just about anything outdoors. Lee's love for her son and grandchildren knew no~ bounds. She found immense joy in spending . quality time with them, whether it was engaging in playful games or embarking on memorable trips together. Lee, affectionately known as the neighborhood mom, was cherished for her boundless love and care that extended far beyond her own household. She exuded a vibrant spirit, always ready with a lighthearted joke to bring laughter to those around her. Her caring nature and compassionate heart were evident in her constant willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Lee Esther Watkins departed this life on December 26th, 2023. She was preceded in death by her father, Pearlie Magee; mother, Katie Magee; and brother, Clyde Magee. She leaves to cherish her husband, Willie Watkins Jr.; son, Willie Pernell Watkins (Linda); sister, Katherine Davis (Hugh); brother, Lawnl Magee (Linda); grandchildren: Tameko Dandridge, Will Sterling Watkins, Ashley Watkins, and Paige Porcaro; three great-grandchildren; and one great- great-grandchild. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. II Timothy 4:6-7
