Mr. Leon Peterson, Sr.

Mr. Leon Francis Pe erson Sr. was born on July 24, 1955, to loving parents, Arthur and Helen Pet erson in Beloit, Wisconsin. Leon received his formal education at Beloit Memorial High School in his hometown. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in business at Upper Iowa University. Leon accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age at Wesley CME Church in Beloit, WI. While at Wesley CME Church, he was a member of e young adult and adult choirs. He was also a member and vice president of the Chri ion Youth Foundation (CYF). Leon later joined Christ the King Baptist Church in August of 1999, where he served on the Seeds to Grow by Ministry. Leon and Gail (Liston) were united in holy matrimony in 1989 at Greater Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in Milwaukee, WI. His blended family includes two children, Crystal and Leon Jr. He was employed by Wisconsin Power & Light in Beloit, WI for several years. He was most recently employed by We-Energies as a construction supervisor. Leon retired in 2016 due to Iness. He was blessed with a heart transplant in January 2016, which allowed him to live life to the fullest for over 8 years. Leon loved sports, excelling in basketball, football, and track during high school. He was an ardent football fan. It was his belief that there is only one team in the National Football League worth cheering for - the Los Angeles Raiders. His smile and cheer at every touchdown brought life to any game. Leon was also a passionate golfer; traveling in and out of state to various golf resorts and tournaments. His happiest moments were when his family were all gathered together. He looked orward to family reunions, annual Super Bowl parties, and holiday get-togethers - particularly Christmas. Leon was affectionately called "Griswold" because of his holiday decorations. Leon had a great sense of humor and was a devoted friend and confidant to many. His lighthearted and kind nature radiated and filled our lives with fun that could only come from him. Mr. Leon Francis Peterson Sr. departed this life on July 23,2024. He was preceded in death by his: parents, Arthur and Helen Peterson; sisters, Gloria Vance and Patricia Thomas; and brothers, Arthur Peterson and Douglas Peterson. He leaves to cherish his memory: loving wife, Gail Peterson; daughter, Crystal Peterson; son, Leon Peterson Jr.; mother-in-law, Renella Liston; brothers-in-law, Jessie Liston Jr., Mark Liston, and Francis Vance; sister-in-law, Patriece Brown; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
