Mr. Leroy Chestnut

Leroy Chestnut was born on January 22, 1945 to the union of Mr. Leon Chestnut and Mrs. Flora Mae Nash- Chestnut of Kosciusko, Mississippi. Along with dealing with complications of Diabetes, He was proud of being a recipient of a Kidney transplant on September 11, 2001. He departed this life on Tuesday, June 4, 013 at 8:45 P.M. Leroy accepted Christ at an early age; he received his formal education at St. Benedict for eleven years, and then went on to graduate from North Division High School in 1964, with honors. Leroy Chestnut was a devoted worker and retired from A.O. Smith Corporation after working for a total of Thirty- Three and One half years. Leroy worked alongside his father of who also retired from A.O. Smith. He also referred to A.O. Smith as his "Alice- Olivia Smith. In his leisure time he went fishing or hunting. After his retirement, he enjoyed listening to music while sitting in the garage, and could hold a hearty conversation to enjoy peoples' laughter. Leroy loved his Old School music and would listen to it regularly. His favorite song was "We go a long way back" by Bloodstone, which was also his favorite singing group. He had several groups he enjoyed listening to; such as The Dells, Temptations, Manhattans, Intruders, Five Satins and the Moments. He would even try to hit Those high notes, but if he thought he couldn't make that high note.... he would just hold up that one fmger and shake his head From left to right. He could always find something to do to entertain himself and his friends. He loved to cook and eat and sometimes traveled far distances for smoked meat, crowder peas, and okra. Leroy was a firm believer in education, in which he was a private sponsor for MPS schools. He cherished children, which he called his "little people" and older people. His belief was that neither could harm us. Leroy was united in holy matrimony twice. Ex-Wives left to cherish his memory are: Beatrice Byrd- Chestnut of Milwaukee, WI (children) Bemetta S. Chestnut, (X) and Dion D. Chestnut, conceived another daughter with Yvonne Jackson (child) Laurette Jackson, and Consuella Watkins-Chestnut of Racine, WI (child) Jason M. Chestnut. Leroy was preceded in death by his (Father) Leon Chestnut, (Mother) Flora Mae Chestnut both from Kosciusko, MS. Bro. James L. Chestnut, William Chestnut, and Nathaniel Chestnut. (Also preceding in death is his two friends Robert "Baby Bob" Williams and Jesse Gee) He leaves to mourn his death (Sister) Dr. MaryNell Chestnut, of Atlanta Georgia, two daughters, Bemetta S. Chestnut of Milwaukee, WI and Laurette Jackson of Zachary, LA, two Sons Dion D. Chestnut of Hamilton, GA, and Jason M. Chestnut of Racine WI. He had six grandchildren; Deja White (Shimmy), Navarro-(Deuce), Navarrio-(Tre')Nelson, Dion N., "Miss Chestnut" Chestnut, Caleb Jackson, Chance Jackson. Two- great grandchildren; Joseph "Austin" Tucker and Shemere Lashay Felton. One God daughter- LoResa Ashley, and a host of Lil' people, relatives, and friends. (He also leaves to mourn very close friends; Melvin"Scootie" White, Big Jr., and Tiger Lilly)
