Ms. Lois Ferguson

Lois Thelma Ferguson was born on August 30, 1928, into the loving arms and care of Sadie Hicks in the city of Pensacola, Florida. God trusted Sadie with her nurturing and earthly development. Lois and her mother moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where she received her formal education within the public school system. She graduated from Vashon High School in 1946. After graduating, Lois met and married Elzee Wilbert Owens. This union was blessed with one son, Elzee Ramon Owens. In 1959, Lois relocated with her son to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, seeking better opportunities for her family. Here, she found the better life she was seeking. Lois became employed with Milwaukee County Hospital in the medical records department for 20 years. She later worked for the Milwaukee County House of Corrections, where she worked an additional 10 years, totaling over 30 years as an employee of Milwaukee County. Lois was very proud to retire after 32 years with one employer. After retirement, her only other employment was with her beloved church, Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, as a clerical assistant to the then pastor, the late Rev. Leroy B. Mixon. Lois loved her church and worked diligently for many years as a reqistror with the State Baptist Convention for state meetings. Lois loved family, her son, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and bowling. She considered her bowling team to be part of her family. For many years as an avid bowler, she traveled across the country with her team to various tournaments and events, winning many awards. On Thursday, January 2, 2025, at 9:07 am, with her beloved son Elzee attending to her care, Lois quietly stepped into the waiting arms of her beloved Lord and Savior who took her into His care. She was preceded in death by her mother, Sadie Hicks, and siblings, John, James, Irma, Alice, and Pat. She leaves to mourn her loss and cherish her memory: beloved son, Elzee Owens of Milwaukee, WI; granddaughters, LaKindra Williams and Stephanie (Knovin) Stewart, both of Houston, TX; grandson, Derrick Owens of Houston, TX; 8 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, all of Houston, TX; and a host of other relatives, friends, and loved ones. "Now unto Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory, with exceeding joy, to God our Savior who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen."
