Mrs. Lona Moss

Lona Moss was born on February 18, 1933 to Charlie and Minnie (Rasco) Holifield in Forest, Mississippi. She was the baby of thirteen children. Lona accepted Christ at an early age at Sylvester United Methodist Church in Forest, Mississippi. She attended Sylvester Training School (Forest MS), and further her education at Piney Woods school in Jackson, Mississippi. In 1952 Lona decided to move to Milwaukee Wisconsin, where she met the love of her life, Arce Moss. The two married in July, 1959. This union would last for fifty years and was blessed with three charming sons, Mylo, Gregg, and Dwight. Lona worked as a Teacher's aide in the Milwaukee Public School System for over thirty years. Lona was a kind, mild mannered, loving person. A fashion diva in her own way. She was a well dressed woman, and loved wearing hats of all varieties. She loved to shop, and had her own special uber driver, Elder Gerald Hobbs. Some would call her a collector of many things, Why? ... because she would hardly, or never throw anything away. Lona enjoyed watching basketball, and drinking coffee. Her Favorite coffee, was ANY KIND. Lena's ultimate joy was baking. Her speciality was cakes. When she would see you or talk with you, her favorite words would be "Tell Me Something Good." To know her was to love her. She was a honest, carefree, but stern woman. A devoted wife of fifty years. A loving mother who loved her sons unconditionally, whether they were naughty, or nice. A sweet sister, an awesome aunt and wonderful friend. Lona Moss departed this life on Friday, August 18, 2017 at Alexian Village nursing home. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arce Moss; seven brothers, J.W Holifield, Jack Holifield, George Holifield, D.L Holifield, Warren "Dude" Holifield, Obie James Holifield, and yc. Holifield; and four sisters, Fannie Mae Bobbitt, Lillie bell Curry, Dora Holifield, and Mae Ruth Holifield. She leaves to cherish her memories: three sons, Mylo (Marla) Moss of Tampa, Florida, Gregg Moss of Los Angeles, California, and Dwight Moss of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; sister, Idell Payton of Forest Mississippi; sister-in-law, Delores Holifield of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; six grandchildren, Lashawnda, Shawnta, Dominique, Jalen, Khalia, and Trajan, and six great-grandchildren, Toriano Jr., Samara, Shareefjr.,Samaris, Mackenzie, and Autumn Rose.
