Mrs. Lorine Cullen

Lorine Cullen was born on July 4, 1934, in Waldo, Arkansas, to John T. Willis and Catherine HilL She received her formal education in the Waldo School System. Lorine accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age. She joined Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church where she served as an usher. Later, she joined Gospel Lutheran Church and assisted the Altar Guild, helped with the weekly bulletin, donated cooked dishes, and completed a variety of other tasks. She enjoyed the teaching, preaching, and singing. Lorine was united in holy matrimony with the late Roy Edward Cullen on July 3, 1951, in Muskegon Heights, Michigan. Their union was blessed with six children. She was a fulltime homemaker until all of her children were in school Later, Lorine became an employee of the Milwaukee Public Schools and Northwestern Mutual Insurance Company. She retired from Harley Davidson Motor Company after 23 years of employment. Lorine enjoyed reading the Bible, cooking, playing cards, completing word search puzzles, watching football, watching MS-NBC, gardening, and bowling. She and her friends organized a social club and busied themselves with fun activites; they truly enjoyed each other's company. Many of her friends were also exceptional cooks. Lorine's specialties were 'sweet potato pie and caramel cake. Lorine loved children; she was a true nurturer. She was an attentive listener and loved to give advice. She was a "no nonsense" mom. Lorine was a foster mom to over 10 children. Joicelyn, Charlotte, Xitheaia, Wanda and Pamela stayed with her the longest. She not only guided her kids, but she was mom to the children in the neighborhood. "Soul Food Sundays" were celebrated every week at the Cullen household. Family, relatives and friends gathered to have a delicious meal, share life experiences, and just stay in touch. Lorine departed this life to be with Jesus on Monday, October 15, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Cullen, Sr.; son, Roy Cullen, Jr.; parents, John T. Willis and Catherine Coats; step-father, Socrates Coats; brother, Thurman Jackson, step-brother, Henry Coats and sister-in-law, Lettie Williams. She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving and devoted children, Martha Miles, Virginia Cullen, Ava Cullen, Danny Cullen, and Cy (Denise) Cullen all of Milwaukee; two brothers-in-law, Robert (Glenda) Cullen and Antonio (Dorothy) Cullen of Texas, a step brother, L. C. Coats; two sisters-in-law, Geneva Cullen of Milwaukee and Tecora Gatlin of Shreveport, Louisiana; a friend who was like a sister, Barbara Wilmot; grandchildren, James Miles, Jr.; LaVonna (Michael) Groce; LaMecia (Tory) Rockett, Anthony Cullen, Danielle Cullen, Joseph Miles, Camille (Ryan) Bridges, Nia Cullen, and Detonia (Robert) Waddles; ten great-ggrandchildren, foster children, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.
