Mrs. Lurenia Brown

Lurenia Brown was born on January 15, 1924, to the union of Henry and Florence Mayweather in Lonoke, Arkansas. She received her formal education within the Arkansas school system. Lurenia confessed her hope in Christ, at eight years old and was united with the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. On January 20, 1946, she was united in holy matrimony with Edgar Brown. They spent 63 wonderful years together. In 1951, she and her husband relocated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she united with the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church. In 1968, she was one of the founding members of the Wanderer's Home Baptist Church, currently New Creation Praise Church. She served in the Senior Choir, as Missions President and exercised her calling as a great Bible teacher. Through her studies, Lurenia achieved a diploma in Christian education, through the General Baptist Convention and served as an instructor for the Congress of Christian Education for many years. Although she never had children of her own, Lurenia was a mother to many, as well as, a mother of the church. Lurenia was employed by many affluent people in Wisconsin, such as, Mrs. Jane Heinemann of Heinemann Bakery, Attorney John and Sally Tolan, and Dr. and Mrs. Stanley Berlow. Lurenia enjoyed making tea cakes, reciting poetry, shopping trips, with here sister Elnora and holding bible studies, in her home. On Thursday, July 13, 2017, Jesus dispatched his angels to escort Lurenia to the heavenly home, which she longed for. She leaves to cherish her memory: sister, Elnora Voss of Milwaukee, WI; two brothers, Henry Mayweather of Little Rock, Arkansas and Johnie Mayweather of Los Angeles, California; two special nieces, Judy (David) Carson and Rochelle (Edward) Terry; seven special great-nieces and nephews: Toriano Carson, Brittany Voss, Brandon Carson, Krystle Johnson, Kyle Carson, Alexis Robinson and Aaron Robinson, all of Milwaukee, WI; one special cousin, who was like a sister, Susie Baker of Little Rock, AK; one special friend, who was like a daughter, Elizabeth Drake; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Henry and Florence Mayweather; husband, Edgar Brown; sister, Florence Mayweather; brothers: Arthur, Robert, Daniel, Clarence Edgar and Cleaster Mayweather.
