Ms. Mamie Ella Stewart

Mamie Stewart was born May 28th, 1931 in Centreville, Mississippi to Reverend George and Mary Frances Stewart. She departed this life on Saturday July nth, 2020. Mamie acquired her education at Pleasant Grove Elementary School and received her high school Diploma from Finch High. As a young woman she met and married Lemmie Griffin. They moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where they realized their mutual dream of building a family, then added five children to their union. She worked faithfully at the Oement Zablocki (VA) Medical Center in a housekeeping position and erformed with such excellence that she was promoted to supervisor status. After twenty-six years of service, Mamie retiredonJanuary 24th, 1992. Mamie joined the Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend E.M. Kelly Sr. During that membership she thoroughly enjoyed singing with the Metropolitan Gospel Chorus. She also served as a teacher during Vacation Bible School yearly. She was also a devoted member of the missions (Gladys East Circle) and attended Sunday evening Baptist Thining Union faithfully. Mamie later became a member of The New Testament Church under the leadership of Pastor Julius R. Malone where she remained a faithful member until her health failed. She took pride in working with the children in the nursery and because of her anointing to cook delicious food, she assisted in organizing meals for the Flock Meet 2. She also looked forward to attending the Women's Retreat every year. Her talents included maintaining her vegetable garden and cooking. Mamie was preceded in death by her father and mother, Reverend George Stewart and Mary Frances Stewart, brothers: Charles Stewart, Stafford Stewart,James Stewart, BookerT. Stewart, sisters: Nina Powell, Margaret Green, Mary Perry,' Minnie Miller and Ruby White. Grandchildren: Pebbles Griffm, Carrie Griffm and Danika Griffin. She leaves to cherish her memory devoted children: Lawrence (Wanda) Griffm, Barbara Griffin,Jasper Griffin, grandchildren: Von Griffin, Sonya Griffin, Monica goe) Nash, Toni Griffin, Lawrence Griffin Jr. , Terrance Griffm, Sophia Thompson, Stephanie Thompson, David Thompson, Sade Griffin, Fabian Griffm, Fountaine Griffin, Davon Griffin, Dalon Griffin; forty-one great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
