Mrs. Mary Lee Veasley

Mary Lee (Shorty) Veasley was born to the union of Jackson and Fannie Mae Olive on August 3, 1935 in Kosciusko, Mississippi. She received her formal education within the Kosciusko school system where she completed high school. Mary Lee accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and was baptized as a child. She publicly declared her faith as an adult on June 24, 1995 when she became a member ofSiloah Lutheran Church. Mary Lee was united in holy matrimony with Everett Veasley on October 19, 1995 in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Their union of 42 years was blessed with eight children, Annie (Herbert) Willingham, Annie Lee Anderson, Diane Patterson, Evon, Charles, Michell, James, and Raymond Veasley. In 1964, Mary Lee and her family settled in Milwaukee, WI. Mary Lee was a hard worker inside the home and out. She raised eight children and was employed by the Continental Canning Company until her retirement. She continued to work while retired until her health wouldn't allow her to work any longer. Mary Lee was a big person in a little body. She was a basketball lover and often bragged about how good of a shooter she was. She enjoyed bowling and participated on several leagues. Her trophies decorated shelves in her home for many years. She was a member of the Pilgrims Ladies Group at Siloah Lutheran Church. Mary Lee was a devoted wife, mother, and daughter. She had an influential role in many lives, especially her grandchildren. There was always room in her home and at her table for relatives and friends alike. Her humble spirit will never be forgotten. After battling Alzheimer's disease for many years Mary Lee Veasley departed this life on September 8, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jackson and Fannie Mae Olive; husband, Everett Veasley; brother, Charles Olive; sister, Lena Pearl Olive; and son, Raymond Veasley. She leaves to mourn: seven children; twenty-three grandchildren and thirty- two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Sam (Dorothy) Brown Ir, Haywood Zollicoffer; three sisters, Annie Green, Lilly Zollicoffer, and Grace (Roosevelt) Crockett; one uncle, Prather (Bessie) Olive; two sisters-in-law, Clyde Mae Hughes and Alee Veasley; one niece, Kirby (Vernon) Lloyd and host of cousins and friends.
