Mr. Mitchell E. Mitchell

William Eddie "Bill" Mitchell was born to the union of Allen Ray and Eula Mae Dodd-Mitchell on November 14. 1932 in Kosciusko, Mississippi. He was the fourth oldest of eight children. On April 19, 1952, he married Clara Elizabeth Coleman. They celebrated fifty-five years together, a milestone to behold, prior to her passing in July of2007. The Lord blessed him with three children, Curtis W. Mitchell, George V. Coleman, of Milwaukee, WI and Elanda Mitchell of Chicago, II. Bill confessed and accepted Christ as his personal savior at a young age at Rock-A-Point church in Mississippi. After relocating to Milwaukee, WI in the late 1950's he attended Saint Agnes Catholic Church until 1988. The Lord found it fit to locate his family in 1988 to Davenport, Iowa where he became a member Third Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Clarence Kurt. In 1992 Bill and his family moved back to Milwaukee, making it his permanent home. He became a member of Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Hugh Davis, Jr. and served as a trustee. Prior to COVID Bill was attending Mercy Memorial Baptist church with his brother, Deacon Allen Mitchell. Bill was employed as a crane operator with Crucible Steel for 30 years. He was a supervisor at Sivyer Steel Company in Davenport, Iowa for 14· years and also served as Union Steward Treasurer. Bill loved coaching-little league baseball, basketball, billiards, gardening and cooking. -He served as the Vice President for United Garden Homes Neighborhood Association. He was the manager for Beckum-Stapleton Senior League Base Ball club. Most of all Bill loved being around his family. He never hesitated to miss a . family gathering, trip, reunion or cook out. On Sunday February 18, 2024, William Mitchell made his earthly transition. Bill is preceded in death by his parent, Allen Ray and Eula Mae Mitchell, his wife, Clara Mitchell, siblings, John, Louise, Birtha, Murlene, Jessie Mae, Allen Jr., Robert, and Larry. His daughter Elanda Mitchell and her mother Kathleen Hawthorne. A close companion, Bessie Brown. His love will continue to live through the lives of his children, Curtis W. Mitchell Sr. and George V. Coleman of Milwaukee, WI. His grandchildren, Curtis Mitchell Jr. (Latese), Deionta Mitchell, Ereck Mitchell, Joseph Jiles, Topez Mitchell, Jackie Mitchell, and Latoya Mitchell. Great granddaughter, Lauren. Godchildren, Deron Spicer, Sheila Gee, Renee Boyd, Michelle Hampton. In laws, Lavail Mitchell, Gloria Cotton, Patricia Little, Charlotte Wingo, George (Bubba) Coleman, Eddarwin Coleman and Ronald Mitchell. Caregivers, Cynthia Triggs, Todd Triggs, Brenda Mitchell-Reed along with a host of nephew's nieces, and friends. Bill touched the lives of many people and will be missed by all who knew him.
