Mr. Morris Pedro Lewis Sr.

Morris Pedro Lewis was born April 23rd, 1924, to Harry and Eugenia Lewis in Chicago, Illinois. He was the third child born to this union. His brothers were Quentin, Ernest, Harry, and Leonard. He received Christ at an early age at Grant Memorial A.M.E. Church, in Chicago He attended Willard Elementary School, Wendell Phillips, and Tilden High Schools. He served in the United States Navy. Morris met his wife at the age of 10; little did he know at that time that she would become his wife. Through the years, they remained friends, and at the age of 22, he married Lucinda Elliott Williams. From that union of 52 years, 7 children were born, Marion Leroy, Morris Eugene, Rhonda Missouri, Cynthia Denise, Michelle Yvette, Michael Elliott, and Leonard Cedric. As an adult, Morris worked at Revere Camera Company, presently known as 3M, and the United States Post Office. He retired from the Post Office in 1995. He was an avid reader of almost anything in print, and also a great conversationalist. He could, and would speak to anyone on any subject. He was a lover of good music. His all-time favorites were tunes from Duke Ellington, Sarah Vaughn, Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Dinah Washington, and countless others. He loved his music! Daddy will be remembered for his extremely funny sense of humor. He would make us laugh at the most inappropriate times, and it usually ended being funny long after the incident was over. He was a family man in every sense of the word. He always made sure that we had a roof over our heads, and food to eat. He once said, when asked if we were poor] He responded, "that everyone in our neighborhood was poor, but no one realized it." We grew up in an era where the men worked, and the women stayed home to take care of the children. He was among that group of men. No one had anymore than their neighbor, but we were all happy. Morris was preceded in death by his wife Lucinda, his Father and Mother, his 4 brothers, his youngest son, Leonard, and 2 grand sons, Maurice, and Michael Elliott Lewis II. He is survived by his children, Marion (Geraldine), Morris, Rhonda (Otha), Cynthia, Michelle, and Michael; 6 grand children, Tracee, Stephanie, Otha II, Roger, Mornisha, and Cedric, and 9 great grand-children,] ada, Nicholas, Zaria, Anissa, Xavier, Raven, Michael Elliott Lewis III, Roger jr., and O'lena Montana Ellara Lewis. On the morning of April loth, 2013, Our Heavenly Father sent for Morris to come home. He was greeted by all who patiently waited for him to complete his job on earth. What a home-coming it was! Daddy will be sorely missed here on earth, but we all know that he's among the best company ever! We love you Daddy, and we miss you so much, but we will see you again! Your spirit will live in all of us forever! We will forever remember hearing 'hanging loose as a goose" when-ever we asked how you was doing. Somethings are etched in the memory bank forever, and we have some beautiful things there! Just know that you are forever present in our hearts, and we will see you all again on the other side . We LOVE you, and THANK you for everything you taught us! It is truly hard to say good-bye!
