Mr. Morris Cecil Thompson

MORRIS CECIL THOMPSON was born in Little Rock Arkansas on August 4, 1939 to the parents of Oscar Thompson and Renola Oglesby. He received his formal education in Milwaukee Public Schools. He was a graduated of Lincoln High school where he was active in baseball, track and field event. As a young adult Morris embraced hi faith and became affiliated with several churches to include African Methodist Episcopal, Catholic, and Baptist congregations. At age 17 he enlisted the United States Air Force and upon returning to Milwaukee began working at American Motor Company and few years later his professional career at Milwaukee County Transit System until his retirement. Morris was passionate and competitive about baseball, and joined several minor league teams. A career highlight being hi opportunity to play at the Braves Stadium where he earned the Silver Slugger's Trophy. His interests extended to a variety of sports such as pool, ping-pong, flag-football, bowling however his true enthusiasm and passion lied in baseball, cars and motorcycle racing. He regularly raced cars and motorcycles at Great Lakes Drag away where he earned numerous awards and trophies. He also reconstructed cars and entered them in car how gaining further recognition and awards. In 1956 Morris Thompson was united in holy matrimony to Janet Thrasher. This union was blessed with five children. In 2014 Morris Thompson was united in holy matrimony to Arthella Anderson. Morris Thompson departed this life on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 8:30am. He was predeceased by his parents Oscar and Renola Thompson, his brothers Donald and Elmer Thompson, son-in-law Larry Jamison and grandson Jimmie R. Chapman. Morris is loved and affectionately remembered by his wife Arthella Anderson, his children; Maurice (Shirley)Thompson, Marietta Stricklen-Jamison, Larry Thompson, Therssa Thompson (Dean Blackwell), Maureen (Gerald) Trotter, Candyce (John) Schomisch of Las Vegas, and Randal (Teresa) Anderson. Grandchildren Marcella (Lewis) Lea, James (Monica) Stricklen, Marliisa Stricklen, Martez Trotter, Antonia Blackwell, Dean F. Blackwell Jr. and Shantel (Ronald) Downey Great grandchildren Lewis Lea, Maurice Lea, Devyn Martin, Donovan Powell, Maliyah Fletcher, Amuriya Wright, Princess Trotter, Zariah Trotter, Martez Trotter Jr., Aria Trotter, Jody Trotter, Troy Jay Johnston, Minerva Stricklen, DeAndre Rogers Davarea Rogers, Deonte Rogers, Geraldine Rogers. One great-great grandchild Norah Pierce. Two sisters, Persephone Ward-Smyth of Milwaukee WI, and Glenda Pope of Atlanta, GA, along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and a special friend Calvin Cottingham.
