Mrs. Myrtle(Marilyn) Yvonne Murff

Myrtle (A.K.A Marilyn)Evaugh Murff was born September 16, 1950 in Greenwood, Mississippi to Mattie Pearl and Clarence Ward. She departed this life on May 19th, 2015, her battle with cancer is now over. She was the eighth child of ten children, both parents preceded her in death. Also four siblings preceded her in death: Isaac, Lottie Mae, Raymond, and Otis. Marilyn was baptized at an early age in Greenwood, MS as a Baptist at the Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church in the River by Pastor Kingston. As a young teenager she started attending a crusade meeting under a tent with an Evangelist from Chicago by the name of Charles D.Joseph. She attended these meetings faithfully every night, and brought home gifts she won for answering questions. She really enjoyed studying and understanding the bible and at the end received a brand new white bible. This lead to her second baptism into the Shiloh Seventh Day Adventist Church, and she lived as an Adventist until her death. Marilyn graduated from Greenwood High School. She went on to study Business Administration at Mississippi Valley State, in Itta Bena, MS and Sawyer Business College in Milwaukee, WI. She then later attended Milwaukee Area Technical College to study Physical Therapy. Marilyn was not fond of the name Myrtle Evaugh at all. So when she was in the second grade, she and her sister Sheron changed her name to Marilyn Yvonne. She never changed her name legally but if you show her picture or ask someone who she was they were most likely to say that is Marilyn Yvonne. Marilyn joined Frank Murff in holy matrimony on March 6th, 1972. They were married 43 years and spent a lot of that time travelling. Whether it was going to visit family or travelling with the church. They were known for travelling. To this union three children were born, Francesca, Shyreeta and Marquis Murff Marilyn was very devoted and highly involved in church, she taught Sabbath school, she was a Pathfinder Counselor, AJY leader and various other positions in the church. She enjoyed working with and fellowshipping with her Sharon Adventist Church family and Sharon Junior Academy. Marilyn leaves to cherish her loving memory: her husband Frank, daughters, Francesca Cunningham (Mancini) of Huntsville, Alabama, Shyreeta Murff (Derrick) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and son, Marquis Murff of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Five grandchildren, Brandon DeSouza and Myles Cunningham of Huntsville, Alabama, Kyharrea Holley, Kaderius and Karter Hawkins of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. One Aunt Allie Mae Kelly of Detroit, Michigan, brothers: Henry (Deborah) of Country Club Hills, Illinois, Clarence (Maggie Mae) Gulfport, Mississippi, and William (Frankie) of Greenwood, Mississippi; two sisters, Sheron (George) of Chicago, IL and Mary Alice Holmes of Greenwood, Mississippi and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends
