Mr. Nathaniel McKenzie

Nathaniel T. McKenzie was born on the 3rd of September, 1958 "A Day You Will Always Remember" to the union of Glover and Lula McKenzie in Milwaukee, WI. Nathaniel, known to many as "Nate" received his formal education with the Milwaukee Public School System. At an early age, Nate accepted Christ as his Savior. Words cannot truly express the joy and laughter received from Nate. He was a fun, loving and good spirited person even during times when his health was failing. Nate knew how to spread happiness throughout any room. Rather the room was filled with adults or children, he'd entertained everyone through the soulful lyrics although he made up a lot of them. Anyone could attest to his most notable quotes when any Motown or Temptation song was played. If anyone start to sing to one of those tunes, Nate would say, "It's all about the timing." Nate wouldn't stop until he had a person up mimicking dance moves and he's in the background saying "Watch nothing but my feet." He thought he was Berry Gordy holding auditions to take the place of either David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks, Paul Williams, Melvin Franklin or Otis Williams. Overall, Nate kept everyone laughing and smiling because of his love for music. More than music, Nate loved the children that were in his life. He was known as either "Papa Nate" or "Uncle Nate". The children will never forget the countless days in which he'd sat outside with them from sun up to sun down barbequing, taking walks, swimming, or simply trying to get them to believe in this imaginary dog named "Blue." I guess Blue was not so imaginary after all. Blue was a friend and a pal that didn't need to be seen or heard all the time. He was a protector who'd never leave or forsake you. Nate was our "Blue" all that time and everyone will make certain his story will live on. Nathaniel T. McKenzie was called to eternal rest on Friday, February 22,2019. He was preceded in death by parents his Glover and Lula McKenzie; sister Venita Gipson and brother Jahad Shabazz. Those left to cherish his memory are nephews: Cornell McKenzie, Silas Hampton and A.c. Gipson of Milwaukee, WI. Nieces: Javott Hampton of Milwaukee, WI and Sewania (Baron Watson) Stokes of Cedar Rapids, IA. He also leaves to cherish his longtime dear friend Brenda J. Ross and stepchildren: Anthony Ross, the late Prentice (Regina) Ross and Monique C. Ross. Step-grandchildren: Prentice Ross, Romero Ross, Anthony Ross, Jr. and Jolie Ross. Nate could not rest in peace without giving recognition to a true and dear friend, a caretaker and a person that only GOD sent to him. Mr. John Carter, you have served as Nathaniel's support system until his departing day. Well Done! Scott Williams, not only were you his brother-in-law, you were his best friend, roommate and homey. You've spent many days, nights and years looking after him. You will never be forgotten for your genuine brotherly love and support. Nathaniel T. McKenzie also leaves to cherish his memories to his "29th Street Family". Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. Psalm 116:15
