Mrs. Otha Causey

Otha Reatha Tobias was born Oct. 25, 1938 in libertY, MS to her parents-Rev. Marion and Pearl Lena Tobias. Otha was the second oldest of 10 children, and as a y'oung girl she worked as a domestic-cleaning houses and taking care of children. In 1957 she graduated from Central High School in Liberty. Before settling on Milwaukee, WI as her place to put down roots, Otha spent time with familY in Cleveland, OH and Chicago, IL. While in Chicago, she would be reacquainted with her childhood suitor, James David Causey. Upon reuniting, James wanted to marry Otha, but she told him he would need to find a job and have a place for them to live before she would say I do. Knowing she was serious1 James busied himself to find work and housing 9O-miles away in Milwaukee. After fulfillil}g his end of the bargain, he and Otha were married Nov. 20, 1965 at her aunt's illinois home. The newlyvyeds starfed their married life in Milwaukee, where they would reside until God called them both home. . Their union bore one amazing son-James Edward Causey born Aug. 1, 1969. Motherhood brought Otha extreme joy. She was very serious about her son's education and would send him to different summer enrichment camps and to Mississippi to keep him busy and out of trouble. Otha also enjoyed bike riding with her son and nephews Jun ior and Dwight Gilmore. Otha's work ethic was unmatched. Her first job as a Milwaukee resident was a salad maker at Karl Ratzsch's restau rant located in downtown Milwaukee. She left there for better opportunity and began working for world renowned speaker and headphone maker- KOSS corporation. She would spend tlie mc.dority of her working years with the company. Not one to put all her eggs in one basket, Otha tr~uently worked two jobs at a time. She worked in dietary at Northwest General Hospital and worked for a printing company making calendars. When she had free time, she enjoyed plays, meditation, going to the gym to work out, playing bingo, attending church services and spendin.g time with her family. She loved to take road trip's back to the South to fellowship with her family. Otha was quite artistic and enjoyed painting ceramics and most recently built a birdhouse. Mama Causey was a multi-talented, wise woman. A great.giver of advice, awesome southern cook, with a style all her own. She loved to put nice outfits together and dressed sharp at all times. Otha departed this life on May 3,2019 after a battle with cancer. She died at home and was lovingly surrounded by her son James and daughter-in-law, Damia when she took her last breath She was preceded in death by her parents Rev. Marion and Pearl Lena Tobias; two sisters Evangelist Everlena Tobias Horton and Evangelist Doreatha Tobias Gilmore; two brothers Rev. T.C TObias and Deacon Thomas Tobias. She leaves to carry on her legacy one son, James Edward Causey (Damia), her loving sister Pastor Joyce Tobias-McComo, MS, four brothers-Bishop' Charles Tobias McComb, MS, Elder L.C Tobias Biloxi, MS, Elder Marion Tobias Jr. Hammond, LA, Prophet Elbert (Debra) Tobias, sister-m-law Patricia Gaines Tobia~ brother-in-law Barney Gilmore Milwaukee, WI, a granddaughter Taylor Marie Yancey-Lausey; one uncle, James Henry Utica, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A staunch believer in God and his word, Otha was at peace when she left this physical world. She now rests in the hands of the Lord.
