Mrs. Rashawnda Warren-Key

Rashawnda (Nicki) Nicole Warren-Key was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 24, 1980, to Charles Edward Jones Jr. and Penny Denise Warren. In 1985, Penny and her beloved daughter Nicki moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to start a life anew. After attending Milwaukee Public Schools throughout her PK-12 academic career, Nicki became a Project Stay High School Alumni in 1999. Post-graduation, Nicki enrolled in general education courses at Alverno College and had her first child, DeJurion Warren in 2001. Soon after, she would take a break from academia and master the art of poker dealing and superior client services at Potawatomi Casino and Hotel in downtown Milwaukee. Undoubtedly, she'd become (if not the best) one of the most popular and passionate poker dealers in the City of Milwaukee. On November 15, 2012, she married Delvin Lamar Key in a private ceremony in Waukegan, Illinois. Back i10 Milwaukee, the two lovebirds built their life together which included two preexisting children, and the birth of three new children. Together, they created a beautiful and vibrant family rooted in love and loyalty. Nicki loved hard - she carried a "family first" commitment - and as a lefty, devoted her signature handwriting to signing field-trip slips, enrolling her children in after school activities and crafting a trademarked life of love for her kids. Notably, Nicki's proudest: achievement was her children. She carried a relentless commitment to shaping a safe and supportive home that prioritized well-being, first. She poured into each child with motherly love, friendship and advocacy. As a wife, mother, sister, niece, cousin, colleague and friend, Nicki was passionate, feisty, and creative. She took pride in her appearance and became known for her uniquely shaped eyebrows, confident fashion pieces, bold lipstick choices and a "straight, no chaser" attitude that matched - she didn't take "any mess" from anybody - no matter who you were. However, through her sense of humor, she could easily make you laugh aloud, and a deep generosity that left her extending her last dollar and, or even the shirt off her back. On Thursday, February 1, 2024, after a six-year battle with cancer, at the age of 44, Nicki transitioned in peace in her Milwaukee home. She was preceded in death by her: grandparents, Charles Edward Jones Sr., Geneva Jones, and Beverly Favor, father-in-love, Curtis Robinson; aunts, Linda Jones, Linda Key, Jackie Gayden, and Rosemary Howse-Johnson, uncle, Carl Favor Jr.; and cousins, Carl Renae Howse and Tamika Ventura Watson. Nicki leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Delvin Lamar Key; children, DeJurion Caprice Warren, Daelin Terris Benton Key, Dallas Deshawn Key, and Harlem Rose Key; bonus son, Delvin Jaquail Lamar Key; parents, Charles Edward Jones Jr. and Penny Denise Warren of Chicago, IL; mother-in-love, Jessie Mae Robinson; brothers-in-love, Brian Key and Corey Robinson; sister, Chanel Cachet Warren; nephew, Michael Allen Rogers Jr.; and a wealth of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and colleagues.
