Mr. Robert Louis Hart Sr.

ROBERT L. HART SR. was born on July 16, 1933 to the union of Will C. Hart and Lena Mae Cheatom Hart in Homer, Louisiana. He attended school in the Missouri Public School System. After finishing school, he served in the United States Army where he fought in the Korean War. Upon his return, he joined the Army Reserves. In 1952, Robert met his soulmate, Evelyn Owens, and they united in poly matrimony on September 27, 1958. To this union, they were blessed with two sons, Robert Louis, Jr. and Leroy Bertrand. He accepted Christ into his life as a young man. He was baptized on February 3, 1959. Robert was member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where he served faithfully for 35 years under the leadership of Dr. Louis S. Beauchamp. in June of 1995, he became an organizing member of the Victory Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. E.L. Thomas. He was elected Chairman of Trustees where he served for two years. Because of his faithfulness to' Christ and his dedication to the church, Pastor E.L. Thomas recommended him for deacon ship. In 1997, Robert L. Hart, Sr. was ordained a Deacon of the Victory Missionary Baptist Church. Deacon Hart continued to serve in the Deacon's ministry, Trustee's ministry, Men's ministry, Dr. E.L. Thomas Men's Choir. He served as Building Administrator and was a faithful member of the Sunday School. He continued to serve in these ministries for 35 years until his health began to fail. Deacon Hart was greatly loved by everyone. His church family referred to him as "Chief". His favorite saying goes, "Like the guy said." Robert, also known as "Uncle Governor", enjoyed socializing with his family and had a great love for his wife, sons, and grandchildren. He was truly his family's hero and was always willing to help others. He just kept going and going even when we could tell that he was not feeling his best. However, he bore his burden and leaned on Jesus Christ for strength and mercy. He never complained about anything. His family always looked forward to the holidays because he loved cooking. He was one of the best chefs in town. His culinary skills are unmatched! Robert Sr. departed this life on October 27, 2023. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Hart; parents, Will C. Hart and Lena Mae Cheatom Hart; five brothers, Leroy (Vera) Hart, Junior Hart, Alfred (Willie Mae) Hart, Williams (Theresa) Hart and Palmer (Jayne) Hart; six sisters, Gertha (George) Clay, Armandy Hart, Earnestine Lawrence, Orleans (Roosevelt) Johnson, Maeolia (John) Wyatt and Alice Faye Jackson. He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory: his son and daughter-in-law, Robert (Gayle) Hart, Jr. and his son, Leroy Hart (Glenda); grandchildren, Shawn, Sierra and Tony; sister-in-law, Elaine Williams of Alamogordo, NM; brothers-in law, Otis Lawrence and Julius Jackson; Goddaughters, Kari Lyons, LaToya Walker; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
