Mrs. Rosa Bell Palm ("Mama Rose")

Rosa Bell Palm affectionately known as Mother, Momma Rose, Rosie, Aunt Bell, & RoBell was born on October 4,1921, in Morton Mississippi. She was the eldest of 6 children born to George and Sephronia Gary. After the passing of her mother at the age of 12, she took on the responsibility of raising her younger siblings. Knowing this would be a difficult task she also gave her life to Christ. She was afaithful member of Mount Caramel Missionary Baptist Church. Rosa was united in holy matrimony to Brown Palm on April 26, 1948. In December 1951, they moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They had a giftfor wonderful hospitality, which is why they were known as "Daddy Brown" and "Momma Rose". Family and Friends were always welcomed into their home. She was an excellent cook. Some of her signature dishes were sweet potato pies, caramel cakes,fried corn and chicken and dumplings. Their home was always a welcome haven for anyone that had a need. Anyone turning the corner of 3,d and Keefe would get a personal greeting, either with a handshake, a hug or an invitation to pull up a chair and sit in the yard. She was employed with Jack Winters and retired after 26 years of dedicated service as a Lead Seamstress. During her retirement years, when she was not travelling, she would be in her garden nurturing her flowers, tomatoes, collard greens, okra and string beans. Momma Rose transitioned to glory on July 17,2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings; Ruth Greene, George Gary Jr., Rueben Gary, Jewel Evers-Thomas and Roosevelt Boyd, daughter Lillian Kincaid and son Rudolf Payton. She leaves to cherish her memory and to continue her legacy three beloved daughters, Jimmy Woods and Earline Cobb both of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Catherine Coleman of Forest, Mississippi; two loving sons, Oscar White of Morton, Mississippi and Johnny Payton of New Orleans, Louisiana; her devoted brother Ernest Gary of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and two dear sisters Rosemary House of Chicago Illinois and Emma Boyd of Morton Mississippi; 26 Grandchildren; 68 Great-grandchildren and 113 Great-great grandchildren; Special friends, Mother Gussie Dixon, Margie Henderson, Sister Mildred Henderson, Sister Ethel Tucker, Loretta Kingsby and a host of relatives and friends.
