Mrs. Roseanna Richardson

Roseanna (Turman) Richardson was born on June 19, 1932 to the union of Frank Turman, Sr. and Rosa Neuville (Turman) in South Beloit, Illinois. She graduated from South Beloit High School and years later earned an associate’s degree in Business Administration from Milwaukee Area Technical College. Sister Richardson accepted Christ at an early age. Her parents were both strong Christians and instilled the love of God in her. She moved to Milwaukee, WI and met the love of her life, Lemoyne Richardson. They were united in holy matrimony on June 20, 1953 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. The service was officiated by the Reverend T.T. Lovelace. Roseanna and Lemoyne celebrated sixty-two wonderful and loving years of marriage in June of this year. Their union was blessed with two children, Cheryl Ann and Gregory Lemoyne. After moving to Milwaukee, she got a job at Mil-Print where she worked in packaging. She met and became best friends with Ruby Cole. Ruby introduced Roseanna to Lemoyne, and Roseanna introduced Ruby to her brother Frankie. After a time the two best friends became sisters-in-law for over fifty years. After Sister Richardson earned her business degree, she was hired as the Executive Secretary for Mr. George watts and Son Tea Room. She was the first woman of color to hold a position and was employed there for several years. Her career included working at Time Insurance Company and eventually she was employed by the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee and retired from there in 1979. In support of her husband's career with the Milwaukee Police Department. Sister Richardson was one of the founders ofWSOLE- Women Supporters of Law Enforce- ment. This organization consisted of wives of police officers and they were dedicated to serving the community and the less fortunate. Sister Ricardson loved Mt. Zion and served in many capacities which included in- terim church secretary, the Board of Christian Education, Sunday School teacher and Woman's Day speaker. Sister Richardson was also known for her delicious cakes. Her rum cake was su- perb! She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and made sure her children and grandchild were proficient in the kitchen before they left home. Everything had to be made from scratch. No box mixes in Annie's kitchen. Sister Richardson loved studying God's word and would spend hours each day pre- paring her Sunday School lessons. One of her favorite scriptures was (C ••••• Resist the Devil and he will flee from you:' (James 4:7). She could still recite this verse till the end. Sister Richardson was preceded in death by her husband, Lemoyne Richardson; and nine of her siblings. She leaves to cherish her mem- ory: a loving daughter, Cheryl Ann Holley; a devot- ed son, Reverend Gregory (Christa) Richardson; two grandchildren, Nicole Roseann Holley and Joshua Azie Bonds; two great-grandchildren, Lauryn Nicole Bryant and Alexa Madison Prado; one sister, Monabelle Tucker and one brother, Herbert Turman, both of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and two precious godsons, whom Roseanne nurtured as her own children, Frank Edward Lopez, [r., and Anthony Lavender; and a host of other family mem- bers and friends as well as her church family, Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and Pastor Louis Sibley, III.
