Mrs. Rosie Lee Newson

osie L. Newson was born on April 2, 1941 to the union of James and Louvenia Lawson in Boyle Mississippi. Mother Rosie Newson received her formal education from the Mississippi Public School system and attended B.L. Bell School in Boyle Mississippi. Mother Rosie Newson at an early age accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and later became a member of the Pentecostal Power Church under the leadership of Bishop Ellis E. Murchison, Sr. Mother Rosie Newson was baptized in the Name of Jesus and received the gift of the Holy Ghost and she has been on fire for the Lord ever since. She served faithfully as the President of the Mother's Board. Rosie Lawson (Doll) was united in holy matrimony to Willie Newson, Jr. on July 21, 1957 whom she called the love of her life, and to this union they were blessed with nine beautiful children. Mother Newson was a devoted wife and mother. She worked as a homemaker, enjoyed cooking dinners and was famous for her sweet potato pies, she also enjoyed spending time with her family, but mostly enjoyed being in the presence of the Lord singing, dancing and reading her word. She was a wonderful example of faith, hope and love. Mother Newson was known for her feisty, yet good sense of humor. She lit up a room with her smile and laughter and she will be missed by all that knew and loved her. Mother Newson went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 20,2017. Her dedication to family and faith in God throughout her sickness, he ultimately gave her peace. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Louvenia Lawson, two sons, Willie Earl & Willie Jr. Newson and two brothers, Ray & Curly Lawson. She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving husband of 60 years, Willie Newson, Jr., eight children, Lenell Parks of St. Louis, MO, Terry Newson, Timothy (Chris) Newson, Lovenia (Tim) Smith, Henry Newson, Edward Earl Newson of Milwaukee, WI, Thelma (Tyrone) Turner of Chicago Heights, IL, Gregory (Janice) Newson of Milwaukee, WI, one brother, James (Margie) Lawson of Mound Bayou, MS, two sisters-in-law, Jurlene Anderson of Ruleville, MS and Mary Lawson of Chicago, IL, a special grandson, Punkin and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
