Mr. Roy Lee Williams

ROY L. WILLIAMS was born on January 27, 1940 in Mobile,Alabama to the late Gilbert, Sr. and Edna Williams. He was the third oldest of twelve to be born of this union. Roy would relocate to Milwaukee, Wisconsin as a child and attended North Division High School. However, he would earn his high school diploma while in the military. Roy's walk as a believer began early on and did not waiver. He accepted Christ as his personal savior and attended Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Elbert M. Kelly, Sr. In 1958, at the age of 18, Roy enlisted in the U.S. Army. His service lasted until 1963 where he was honorably discharged. Roy met the love of his life in 1985. They "got to know each other" for 6 years and then tied the knot on Thanksgiving Day, November 28,1991. Together they had a beautiful blended family of 10 wonderful kids. He was employed at A.O. Smith as a press operator for over 12 years. He 'then began working for the Milwaukee Public School (MPS) system in1985. Roy later took a promotion with the City of Milwaukee as a heavy lubricator. Roy retired in 2002. Not wanting to stay home and sit still, he went back to work with MPS as apart-time delivery driver for the food service division until 2013. Roy had many hobbies. He loved to roller skate and was very good at it too. His favorite things to do were play baseball, softball and basketball. He sometimes did casino trips as well as enjoying playing cards including bid whist and spades. Roy enjoyed fishing as well. You could find him on the banks or on a boat. It didn't matter; Roy was going to catch him some fish. And even when he didn't, he still enjoyed the sport. He also enjoyed bowling, first for fun and then he got into league and tournament bowling. Some of his accomplishments included an appearance on the show Bowling for Dollars, bowling a 298, 299 and a perfect score of 300. He received many awards and trophies during his time bowling. Roy loved to travel as well, though he was not too fond of flying (unless he had to). He was OK with ship cruising but most of all he was "road trip ready". Roy was a darn good driver at that (the Best). He loved his home and yard to look good. He was always outside cutting the grass, pulling weeds, watering the yard and removing the snow in the winter. He liked sitting on the porch "letting some air blow on his jaws:' is what he called it. He chatted some with the neighbors and passers by. He always said what he meant and meant what he said; helping to instill and teach you a few things along the way while saying it. In his time here on Earth, he touched a lot of lives and dropped 'a lot of knowledge: He loved his family and some friends he had but he wasn't too big on crowds. Roy was known as a fighter, he fought 'til the end. God allowed him to transition from his earthly body to his spiritual one, while still at home where he wanted to be with his family by his side. This transition took place on Monday, December 11, 2023. He is preceded in death by his parents.. Gilbert, Sr. and Edna Williams; and his brother, Gilbert Williams, Jr. Remaining to cherish Roy's memories are his wife of 32 years, Joyce Williams, his daughters, Michelle, Darlene (Joseph), Felecia (Mike) and Shamari; sons, Duane (Quida), Cedric (Denise), Kyle and Anthony; his sisters, Dorothy, Sheila (Tupar), Jackie (Larry), Doris, and Linda; brothers, Donald (Nicole), Frederick Sr., Taylor (Mona), Jerry, and Leonard; two sisters-in-law, Towanda and Velma; two brothers-in-law, Albert and Warren; 18 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; two special angels, .Gloria and Stella; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and four special people in his life who had a big place in his heart, Bruce, Kathy, Nicholas B and Shannon.
