Mrs. Ruby Lee Gillespie

RUBY LEE GILLESPIE "BABY SISTER" was born on April 13, 1931 in Washington County, MS to Louis Jerry and Frankie Lee Nash. She confessed hope in Christ at the age of 14 under the leadership of Pastor R.H. Hedredge at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Lyons, MS. Ruby Lee Nash was united in holy matrimony with Robert Dean Gross on January 16, 1947 in Duncan, MS. She received her formal education at Coahoma Community College in Clarksdale, MS, and continued her education at Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC), where she majored in Childhood I &II. She later moved to Pace, MS and joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Jab Taylor, until moving to Milwaukee, WI. She joined Monumental Missionary Baptist Church in Milwaukee under the leadership of Reverend Olee Sutton. She found her church home at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Russell B. Williamson, where she served faithfully until her health failed. Ruby was employed by Daycare Inc. as a teacher until her retirement. In her leisure, she enjoyed reading the Bible, playing Scrabble, doing word search puzzles, watching soap operas and volunteering at food pantries. Ruby Lee Gillespie departed this life on March 30, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis Jerry and Frankie Lee Nash; three brothers; one sister; husband, Robert Dean Gross; son, Robert Lee Gross; and grandsons, Quentin Gross and Latitious Moore. She leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Gloria Wilson, Willie Mae Reed, Stella Gross, Bernice (Refferd) Hooker, Theodore Bell, Lonnie Bell, Verna Gillespie, Calvin Gillespie, Warren Gillespie, Derrick (Luruse) Gillespie and Undraye (Darricke) Bennett, all of Mlilwaukee, WI, Gean (Joseph) Young of Cleveland, I\IS, Linda (Roosevelt) Moore and Sandra (Thomas) cGrone of Indianapolis, IN, Mary Gille pie of Richmond, VA; two brothers, Jerry (L rnette) ash and Frazier (Edna) Nash; five sisters, Maple McDale, Ruthie Kinney, Hattie Anderson, Kattie Jackson and Sarah (Jessie) Wilson; daughter-in-law, Darlean Gross of Wisconsin· 35 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.
