Ms. Sharon Gooch Gillespie

Sharon Gooch Gillespie was born on September 5, 1960, to the union of Eddie Gooch and Ardene Gooch in Milwaukee, WI. Sharon received herformal education in Milwaukee, WI. She attended Roosevelt Junior High School, and later graduated with the class of 1978 at North Division High School. She participated in a variety of activities including the Drill Team, Pep Club, Concert Choir and Nefertari, an African dance group at North Division.-Sharon's outgoing nature led herto be voted on the Homecoming Court as Miss Sophomore, and again as Miss Senior. One of the highlights of Sharon's high school years was performing in plays conducted by the North Division Concert Choir. In oddition. wonderful memories were made while traveling with the choir and Nefertari to Los Angeles, CA and Atlanta, GA. Sharon furthered her education at Milwaukee Business Training Institute (MBTI) as a keypunch operator. Sharon accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Atlanta under the leadership of Dr. Charles Stanley and Dr. Anthony George. Sharon enjoyed their worship service so much that she'd encourage family and friends to attend, especially those visiting her from out of state. She supported the God's Masterpieces ministry. Sharon was united in holy matrimony to Kevin Gillespie Sr. on August 5,1989, in Milwaukee, WI. Due to Sharon's training at MBTI and her experience in payroll, she had no problem obtaining a position at Fannie Mae after relocating to Atlanta in 1987. She was a faithful employee at Fannie Mae for 10 years before obtaining a position at Cox Enterprises in 1998. Sharon was a valued and dedicated team member at Cox until her passing. In Sharon's leisure, she enjoyed fellowshipping with others, dancing, and giving and bringing joy to those in need, which was second nature to Sharon. She enjoyed being involved in her son Kevin's extracurricular activities and being a great MiMi to her one and only granddaughter, Skylar Reeves. She would open her home, her closet, and her heart if she saw someone in need. Sharon had a passion for people, the work she performed on her job, along with compiling a collection of high heel shoe trinkets! She loved and was loved by those in her hometown, Milwaukee, and to those she met in Atlanta where she resided for over 30 years. Sharon departed this life on August 14, 2022. She was preceded in death by: husband, Kevin Gillespie Sr.; parents, Eddie Gooch and Ardene Stokes; and her brother, Wayne Gooch of St. Louis, MO. She leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Shauntel (Kevin) Reeves; son, Kevin Gillespie Jr. of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Barbara Martin, Donna Walker, and Jacqueline Owens; one brother, Eddie Gooch Jr. of Milwaukee, WI; loving granddaughter, Skylar Reeves of Atlanta, GA; nieces, Keya Grady, A'jeanette Gordon, Brittany Owens, all of Milwaukee, WI, and Shayla Williams of Plano, Texas; nephews, Andre Gooch and Johntae Metcalf of Milwaukee, WI; step-father, Bobby Stokes of Milwaukee, WI; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
