Ms. Shirley Jean Williams

Shirley Jean Williams was born on December 17, 1957 in Doddville, Mississippi to proud parents, Allie B. Roaf and Robert Lynn Williams. Shirley was educated in the Milwaukee Public Schools district, graduating from North Division High School. Shirley moved to Des Moines in 1990 with her two sons to start new beginnings. She began long term employment with Access Direct until they went out of business. From 2007 - 2016, she was employed with Puff and Stuff Childcare. "Jeanie" or "Aunt Jeanie" as she was affectionately known by those that loved her; because to most she was like an Auntie. Shirley had such a strong spirit and no matter what she was going through, she was always there for the people in her life. She loved on people and never once made you feel like you were an inconvenience. Shirley was like a Mother to so many young men in the neighborhood. If you came to Iowa, you always knew you had a place to lay your head and food to eat. Shirley embraced everyone she met and took them in as family. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. If you knew her, then you know how much she loved sitting around a group of family and friends having fun. She loved to play spades, dominoes and laughing. Her infectious smile and laughter could light up a room! Shirley LOVED family!!! Shirley accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age, and later joined Living Church of God in 2003, where she served as a faithful member until her untimely passing. Shirley was strong in her faith, and she shared HIS word at every opportunity. She loved her church family and they loved her She enjoyed traveling to many different places with her church family. Shirley departed this life to be with the Lord on January 28, 2023. Shirley was proceeded in death by her mother, Allie B. Roaf; her father, Robert Lynn Williams; her sister, Joyce Ann Williams. Left to cherish all her precious memories are her two sons; Lonnie Devon Williams Marlina J and Otis Allen Williams Sr. {Cris}; Eight siblings, Robert Williams, Brenda Gray{Mike}, Vonnell Williams, Gregory Williams{Cherise}, LaDale Williams, Synethia Reo], Patrena Roaf and Jelona Pein; Twelve randchildren, Roshon Williams, Jasmine Williams, Otis Williams Jr., Amya Williams, Jayshon Williams, Lonnie Williams, Lonn'tiay Williams, Keyonn'tae Williams, Devionn'tae Williams, Jaztinique Jones, Shelton Williams, Ariyon Williams; and a host of bonus grandchildren, great- grandchildren, cousins, nephews, and nieces.
