Mrs. Truzella Brazil

With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the beautiful life of Truzella (Shuttlesworth) Brazil, a woman of unwavering faith, boundless love, and a heart that embraced all who knew her. On February 28, 2025, Truzella peacefully transitioned to be with the Lord, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and wisdom. A LIFE ROOTED IN LOVE AND DETERMINATION Born on October 11, 1934, in Birmingham, Alabama, Truzella was the eighth of nine children, blessed to be raised by her loving parents, William and Alberta Shuttlesworth. With a spirit of determination and a desire for greater opportunities, Truzella embarked on a new journey to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1953. She often recalled the wonder of stepping off the bus to find the ground covered in snow-a stark contrast to her Alabama roots. She made her home with her sister, Iwilder (Billie) Reid, as she settled into her new life. Two years later on August 6, 1955, Truzella - affectionately known as Tiny, Trudy, and True - married the love of her life, Morris Brazil Jr. Their marriage was a testament to love, resilience, and faith that lasted more than 40 years before he passed away on February 14, 1997. Together they built a beautiful family of seven children, including two sets of twins. Truzella was a lifelong learner. She received her early education in the Birmingham School System, graduating from Rosedale High School in 1952. She attended Alabama State University for a year before relocating to Milwaukee. She earned her bachelor's degree in education in 1975 and her master's degree in counseling and administration in 1977 from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. Truzella dedicated herself to service and education - they were of her greatest passions. During her career, she worked at West Division High School, the Internal Revenue Service, and Juneau Academy alternative school. In the final chapter of her professional journey, she served as Resident Liaison Officer for the City of Milwaukee, where she worked tirelessly to support and uplift her community b~ore retiring. A LIFE ANCHORED IN FAITH Her faith became the foundation of her life, and she dedicated herself to spreading the love of Jesus to everyone she met. She was raised attending Sf. Matthews Methodist Church in Oxmoor, Alabama. However, her true faith journey began in 1980 when she experienced the transforming love of Jesus Christ after hearing her dear friend Martha Freeman share the gospel with her twin daughters.
