Mr. Vees T. Irvin

Vees Tramel Irvin, affectionately known as "Mel", was born on April 16, 1964, to Arniece Irvin and Frank Irvin in Brinkley, Arkansas. Mel was a beloved figure known for his warmth, passion for sports, and deep love for family. Mel was an avid sports enthusiast with a special fondness for basketball, a sport he played with notable skill throughout his life. His dedication to his favorite team, the Green Bay Packers, was unwavering; he never missed a game. Mel also had a knack for grilling. He would throw a piece of chicken' on the grill regardless otthe season. Mel loved his family; he never missed a birthday, holiday, or any important moments. He was the life of all gatherings. It would not have been a true party if Mel had not been present. He was always dancing, cracking jokes, and very playful. He had an affectionate relationship with children. Known lovingly as "Uncle 40", Mel was often seen with a smile. Mel gave a humorous reminder to kids, saying, "l'rn telling yo mama", though he rarely disciplined them. He would wait for one of the kids to do something that he could crack a joke about so that he could call them "stupid dummy". Mel did not care what you called him, as long as you put "Dad" or "Uncle" before it, but respect had to be present. Above all, Mel was incredibly proud of his roles as a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He looked forward to going on vacation and playing games with his grandchildren. He cherished the time spent with his children and was thrilled when his final wish to spend quality time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren was fulfilled. Vees Tramel Irvin "Mel"passed away on July 26, 2024, at the age of 61. He was welcomed into eternity with open arms by his: mother, Arniece Zweber (Stephen Zweber); beloved son, Antwone Tramel Irvin; brother, James Stewart; maternal grandparents, Newton and Rosie Summerville; paternal grandparents, James and Annie Mae Irvin; and aunts and uncles. May they embrace one another in the afterlife. Mel is survived by his: father, Frank Irvin; beloved children, Michael Irvin (Trista Irvin), Sharhonda Shackleford (JL Shackelford), Tierra Irvin, Courtney Irvin (Tierra Irvin), Keenan Irvin, Samuel Irvin, Tyara Irvin, and Devontae Irvin; 24 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 8 sisters, Felicia Davis (Milwaukee, WI), Theresa Irvin (Henderson, NV), Jackie Ross, Sharon England (Detroit, MI), Lisa Cox, Michelle Brown (Chicago, IL), and Victoria Chatman (Seattle, WA); 2 brothers, William Harris (Chicago, IL) and Frank Davis (Indianapolis, IN); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Mel's joyful spirit and loving presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. The next family gathering will not be the same without his physical presence, but we will take solace in knowing that his legacy of kindness, humor, and familial love will remain in our hearts always.
