Mr. Willie Wayman Adams Jr.

Willie Wayman Adams, Jr., was born January 6, 1928, to the union of Willie and Odie Pearl Adams, of Galesburg, IL. He was educated in the public School system in East St. Louis IL. After leaving school, he enlisted in the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged on December 22, 1945. Willie met the love of his life, Nettie Mae Harris, at his father’s BBQ restaurant, Adams’ Smokehouse in East St. Louis. Willie and Nettie united in holy matrimony on December 31, 1947. To this union , 7 children were born: LeMorris, Lois, Beverly, Bobbie, Pamela, Angela, and Michael. In 66 years of marriage, they were never apart for more than 3 days. In 1951, they relocated to Milwaukee, WI. He worked many jobs before he was permanently employed at A.O. Smith. He retired after 38 years of employment. Willie was a faithful member of The Church of the Living God Temple 132. He served on many auxillaries over the years which included: Superintendent of Sunday School, Trustee Board, Usher Board, Men’s Choir, and Mass Choir. He served as Director of the Church’s Food Pantry for many years. Through the years, he transported All of his grandchildren to Sunday School. He truly had a servant’s heart. He enjoyed watching old VHS taped of football games, westerns, and karate movies. He also enjoyed playing horseshoes at the church picnics, making his famous Christmas punch at the family Christmas dinner, brewing coffee for Sunday School, and studying the Bible. Most of all he enjoyed having his family gathered together. Deacon Willie Wayman Adams, Jr. peacefully departed his life on Monday, October 14, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents: Willie and Odie Pearl Adams; 6 sisters: Ruby (Horsten), Christine, Eunice (Johnny) , Recie, Loretta and Yvonne; 4 brothers: Leon, Eugene, Earl and Warner; 1 son: :eMorris Harris; and 1 son-in-law: Jessico Michael Finch, Sr. He leaves to cherish his memory, wife: Nettie Mae Adams; 6 children: Lois(Clarence) McGee, Beverly (Marvin) Spears, Bobbie (Brenda) Adams, Pamela (Michael) Monk, Angela Finch, and Michael (Tracy) Adams, all of Milwaukee, WI; 1 daughter-in-law: Samella Harris, of Tucson, AZ; 22 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and his closest friends; Deacon Curtis and Sarah Monk.
