Mrs. Willie Ann Butler

Willie Ann Butler (nee Hooker) was born to the union of the late Morgan and Annie Lee Hooker on April 6; 1941 in Lexington, Mississippi. Some time later, the family relocated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Having been brought to church in the arms of a loving Christian mother, Willie Ann united With the body of Christ at an early age under the pastorate of Rev. Sylvester Norton at the Canaan Missionary Baptist Church. She was a member for over fifty years. During the years of her membership, she was a member of the Youth Department, Gospel Chorus, Mass Choir, Women's Choir, Women's Day Committee, and the Adult Department Class #4. At one time, Willie was also a member of a bowling team sponsored by the church. That team went on to win first place in league competition. Willie Ann graduated from Lincoln High School and was its first Black Prom Queen in 1959. She was married to George Butler on August 25, 1962. She also joined the Army Reserves, and after a number of years achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. Willie enjoyed her work in retail sales, and worked for many years for Gimbels and Marshall Fields until her retirement. One of her great loves was the Green Bay Packers Football Team and she was an avid fan. She loved all sports except for hockey. On Sunday, November 11, 2012 our Heavenly Father released His child from her suffering and called her to come home. Willie Ann answered His call and transitioned to her Heavenly Home. Those who are left behind to cherish her memory are former husband and yet best briend, George Butler, Readstown, WI; one brother, Nathaniel Hooker, Milwaukee, WI; one granddaughter, Kesha Williams; mother-in-law, Frances Butler, Milwaukee, WI; one brother-in-law, MacArthur Weddle, Milwaukee, WI; two sisters-inlaw, Sharon Butler, Sturgeon Bay, WI and Louise Hooker, Chicago, IL; one uncle, Willie Thomas, St. Louise, MO; and one aunt, Lelia Coates, Lexington, MS. The Lord did not bless Wille Ann with biological children, but served as a mother figure for many of her nieces and nephews. They include: nieces: Adeline Pressie, Adriane (Terry) Griffin, Frances (Jimmy) Wilson, Genice Jackson, and Bridget (Delavago) Moore. Nephews: Andrew Hooker, Lennell Hooker, Anthony (Tracey) Hooker, Ronnie (Elizabeth) Hooker, and Marcus McClain. She also leaves five God-Children, Fred JOnes, Dino Black, Lisa Smith, Deatiny Tillman, and Shauntise Patterson; one God -brother, Sherman Martin, and her guardian angel and care provider, Lorretta Jackson. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Morgan and Annie Lee Hooker, two brothers, Calhoun and General Hooker, and two sisters, Bessie L. Coleman and Anna Marie Weddle.
