Ms. Willie Mae James

Willie Mae James was born May 8, 1946 in Clarkdale, Mississippi. She was the second oldest of ten children born to Sammie and Ester Galmore. Willie Mae received her former education through the Clarksdale's public school system. On June 19th, 1961, Willie Mae was united in holy matrimony with Cornelius James. Their union was blessed with four children. Willie Mae and Cornelius lived a quiet life as husband and wife for 49 years in Indianola, MS. After the unfortunate passing of her husband, Ms. Willie Mae moved to Milwaukee, WI to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Willie Mae was a faithful member of Greater New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ in Indianola, MS. She severed on the Mother's Board up until she relocated to Milwaukee, WI. Upon her arrival in Milwaukee, she joined EI-Bethel co.G.I.C under the leadership of the late Pastor Joel J. Kinlow. At the time of her passing Willie Mae was a member of Faith Temple co.G.l.C under the leadership of Pastor Tommy Combs Jr. She was an active member in the church, serving on the Mother's Board, she loved to dress in her all white attire. Ms. Willie Mae was known for her delicious southern cuisine. Her sweet potato pies would often go missing at family functions. She enjoyed feeding family, friends, and strangers. Ms. Willie Mae would offer money to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to get snacks from the vending machine. S e would pack food for you to take home, yo could not come through the door of her home without being offered a seat at the dinner ab e tor a meal. Family could always count on Ms. Willie Mae. She was ready 0 help in any way she could. She offered childcare for her great-grandchildren, cooked delicious meals, and often sold girl scout cookies for two of her great-granddaughters. Ms. Willie Mae also enjoyed organizing rummage sales with her daughter and sisters. She was gifted in the art of "thrifting/' and was known {or finding treasures at the local Goodwill. Mother James went home to be with the Lord on August 7,2020 at Aurora Sinai Medical Center, in Milwaukee, WI. She is preceded in death by her parents, Sammie Galmore, and Ester Galmore; husband, Cornelius James; brother, Sammie Galmore, Jr.; and great-grandson, Isaiah McGinnis. Willie Mae leaves to cherish her memory: daughters, Shirley (Pastor Tommy) Combs, and Mary James; sons, Sammie (Patrice) James, and Jesse James; brothers, B.J. Galmore, E.J. (Martha) Galmore, and J.D. (Bobby) Galmore; sisters, Alberta Edwards, Roberta McCullough, Ester (EdWin) Redmon, Ruby (Charles) Galmore, and Mattie (Clarence) Toussaint; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-eight great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her extended family at Faith Temple Co.G.I.C Mother Willie Mae James, a woman with a kind heart and lovinq spirit, who "played no games" about her family.
