Mrs. Wilma Jean Weddle

Wilma Jean (Moore) Weddle was born in Humboldt, Tennessee on June 4, 1933 to the union of Clarance Isaac Moore and Odelia Collier Moore. Wilma was the seventh daughter of 16 children, similar to her mother (Odelia) who was also the seventh daughter. At an early age, Wilma accepted Christ at Johnson Chapel CME Church. She later became a member of First Baptist Church in Trenton, Tennessee. Wilma attended Johnson Chapel Grammar School and later graduated from Rosenwald High School, class of 1952. That same year, she married the love of her life, Charlie L. Weddle. To this union, three children were born: Debra, Vickie, and Robin. Wilma loved her children unconditionally. She demonstrated this love by ensuring that they had spiritual and academic guidance. She would always push her children to excel academically and treat others as the scripture instructs. In 1953, she moved to Milwaukee and became a member of Canaan Baptist Church under the leadership of the late, Reverend H. Matthew Beecham. It was in 1967, she united with Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late, Reverend Obie Martin Sr., and continued her membership under her current pastor, Reverend Russell B. Williamson. Wilma LOVED the Lord and was faithful to the work and business of the church until her health began to fail. Her favorite scripture was; John 14: 1, "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me." Wilma was a great singer in high school and enjoyed singing in the school choir with her sister, Evelyn. Furthermore, she enjoyed singing in the Moore family singing group and the Zion Hill Gospel Choir, under the direction of her sister, Maxine Williamson. She would lead songs like; "There's a Stranger In the City", "We Are Our Heavenly Father's Children", "Today", and "I have a Father Who can". Wilma was more comfortable singing in the background, however, when told by her sister, Maxine to sing 'she had to SING'. Her love for music extended to her daughter, Robin, whom she loved to hear sing. For short periods, Wilma was a domestic engineer a Columbia School of Nursing; she worked at Spic and Span Cleaners preparing clothes and Milwaukee County Hospital as a CNA. Later, she was employed by Ms. Louth, where Wilma helped run the nursing home and served in many capacities for 30 plus years. Wilma would transition Keiding Inc., where she served 23 years as a machine operator until her retirement in 1999. Wilma love to have a good time and travel across the United States especially when her brother, Billy Moore organized group trips on his coach bus. She often traveled to various events, engagements, and vacations. while sitting outside the hotels, strangers would befriend Wilma and find themselves being counseled by her. Wilma was known to many as "Sister" and the late, great, Reverend Alonzo Clemons gave her the name "Girlfriend." Later in life, her grandchildren gave her the name "Goo Goo". Wilma loved cooking, entertaining, going out to dinner with friends. Everybody loved eating Goo Goo's cooking. She received great joy watching people enjoy her food. She would have a special sparkle in her eyes when she could prepare her food for others. She would prepare a Christmas brunch that family and friends looked forward to every year; a holiday wouldn't go by that she didn't cook for her family. She received great joy supporting her children in their various activities, especially basketball. She would continue attending and rendering support to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved sports like golf, tennis, and football and had several players that she would cheer for, but her favorite players were Tiger Woods and Serena Williams. Her favorite football team was the Patriots. She would enjoy cheering and supporting teams that had a black coach and or quarterbacks, and any team that played against the Green Bay Packers. Wilma had a great sense of humor, but would speak up for what she believed was right. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Odelia Moore; one daughter, Debra Boothe; three brothers, Walter Love, Billy Moore, and James Moore; six sisters, Annie Pollard, Helen Wade, Catherine Bernice, Edna Wallace, Evelyn Maxine Williamson, and Winnie Barber; two grandchildren, Marlon Jermaine Boothe and Nakita Ashley Hinds; and an adopted child, Reverend Alonzo Clemons. Wilma is survived by husband, Charlie L Weddle; two daughters, Vickie Hinds and Robin (Thomas) Poskocil, all of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren, Jason Boothe, Charisse (Yashaun) Jones, Tiaa (Anthony) Taylor, Mark (jessika) Hinds, Michaiah Hinds, Jonathan Poskocil, Shelby Poskocil, and Chelsea Poskocil all of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; eight great-grandchildren, Jason Boothe [r., Cierah Boothe, Cahlil Jones, Joshua Jones, Kennedi Hinds, Mark Hinds Ill, Aleyah Taylor, Sahalie Hinds all of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; one sister, Ester Faye Williamson; a Godchild, Phillip Barber; special friends, Artie Thompson, Ruth Cook, and Josephine Henderson all of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
