Ms. Winifred Louise Brewer

Winifred Louise Brewer made her final transition from this earthly home on August 12,2024. She was surrounded by God and her family. Winifred was born on September 8, 1949, in Albion, MI, and is the oldest child of Roy and Florence Brewer. Windy, as she was affectionately known, attended Albion Public Schools and graduated with honors in 1967. She attended the University of Michigan and graduated in 1971. While the University of Michigan, she pledged her beloved Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. After graduation, Winifred studied law at Howard University School of Law in Washington D.C. Growing up, Windy had a thirst for knowledge and modeled the wonder of knowing through reading. She always knew she wanted to become an attorney. Her obsession with Perry Mason began at a young age and she continued to watch re-runs throughout her entire life. During her professional career, Windy had many accomplishments in the judicial arena including Informal Hearing Officer, Family Court Judge, Prosecutor of Salinas, CA, and head of the Sexual Assault Unit in Solano, County, CA. Windy was a member of the State Bar of California and LINKS of Fresno, CA. Windy accepted Christ at the tender age of nine. She was baptized in Bethel Baptist Church by Reverend Marion Wheeler after a week-long revival. Her religious upbringing remained a major part of her life. After moving to California, she made sure to find a church home wherever she resided. Windy became a member at Bethel Baptist in Seaside, CA, Second Baptist in Valeo, California (whose usher board was tops in her mind) and later the Church of God in Christ in West Angeles under the direction of Bishop Charles E. Blake. Windy's favorite gospel song is 'The Battle Belongs to the Lord' by Yolanda Adams. She often attributed her speaking and presentation skills to her experiences in Bethel Baptist Church and Albion High debate; influenced by her mother. She was a stout devotee of the Lord. Windy was proceeded in death by her Beloved Father, Roy Brewer Sr.; Uncles, Tillman, Hiawatha and Floyd Cornelius; Aunts, Dorothy Cornelius, Martha Horton and Essie Sanders; Brother In-Law, Dave Kingsby and great nephew Na'Marion Crawford. Windy's loving spirit is carried on by her Loving Mother, Florence Brewer of Albion, MI; Siblings, Lorretta Kingsby, Milwaukee, WI, Roy Brewer Jr., Albion, MI, Katrina Brewer, Ypsilanti, MI, Fred Brewer, Anethia Brewer and Hattie Brewer of Lansing, MI; Nephews, Troy Brewer and Kevin White, Milwaukee, WI, Brayden and Hayden Brewer, Lansing, MI; Nieces, Nicole Swan, Milwaukee, WI and Fredrica Brewer, Lansing, MI; God Siblings, Sheila.Mason, Tony Harris, Lamar Estelle, Tara Thompson and Jacques Harris. Best friend, Juanita Coney, Albion, MI and special friends, Shay and Greg Leverette of San Moreno Valley, CA. A host of.gret nieces and-a great nephew, cousins and friends. Her legacy will carry on forever reminding us that we control our attitudes. We choose to live a life of meaningful acts of love and service, like Christ modeled for us.
