Ms. Yvonne Aneesah Ali

Yvonne Ali was born Yvonne Marie Edwards on November 7, 1943, to the union of Eddie Edwards and Jayne Beckley in the town of Meadville, Pennsylvania. Yvonne was an only child, although she had a very close sisterly relationship with her cousins, Joyce Hunter, Ronald Johnson, and Isaac Cephus Jr. Yvonne graduated from Meadville High School in 1962, where she graduated in the top 10 percent of her class. After graduation, she moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and attended Milwaukee Area Technical College where she earned her associate's degree. She later enrolled in Marquette University and earned her undergraduate degree in education. With education being her passion, she continued her education and earned a Master's of Education degree from National Louis University. Please note that up to her day of departure, she reminded us that she was 16 credits "shy" of earning her doctoral degree in education. Being a highly spiritual person, Yvonne joined the Nation of .Islam in 1973. She later joined The Key to Better Living Center, and she was a student of New Thought Christianity. She later joined Light Streams for Better Living Center. She was a remarkable woman whose passion for life and unwavering dedication to her family defined her. Yvonne Edwards was united in holy matrimony with Enwood Robertson Jr. in 1965, and their union was blessed with five children. As a mother of five, she poured her heart and soul into raising and providing for her children, Dana, Randsom, Randal, Tatia, and Tara. She instilled in them the values of love, perseverance, and hard work. Yvonne encouraged all her children and extended family to pursue their dreams. In addition to her role as a mother, Yvonne was a civil servant and worked as an administrative assistant for the Community Relations Social Development Commission. She also worked as a director for Commando Project One, a community outreach program for the inner city of Milwaukee. Her first business was formed with her business partner/co-owner, Alexander Smith. They opened Magnum Security Services in Milwaukee, where she made a significant impact in the black community. At one point in time during the late 80's, she employed more African Americans than any small business in the state of Wisconsin. She was known as a pioneering entrepreneur. After transitioning from Magnum, she realized her passion was education, so she started a charter school known as Agape Center of Academic Excellence. Her creativity and drive inspired many, and she leaves behind a legacy of innovation and determination. Yvonne was known for her warmth, resilience. and ability to foster a supportive environment for her family. She was incredibly dependable and always lit up any room she entered. She cherished her friendships and took joy in being an active member of her community. Whether through volunteering, hosting gatherings, or simply lending a listening ear, she touched countless lives. Yvonne was heavily involved in state and local politics and always made sure to vote on behalf of her community's best interest. Yvonne Ali was a beloved mother, entrepreneur, and cherished friend, who departed this life on September 28,2024, at 80 years of age. She was preceded in death by her: father, Eddie Edwards; mother, Jayne Beckley; Francis Johnson, Joyce Hunter, and Patricia Cephus; and cousin, Ethel Henry. She leaves to cherish her memory: 5 children, Dana (Terea) Ali of San Leandro, CA, Randsom (Susan) Ali of Apple Valley, CA, Randal (Gina) Ali of Milwaukee, WI, Tatia (Morris) Mahaley of Carrollton, TX, and Tara Ali of Milwaukee, WI; and 8 grandchildren, Amani, Kalen, Tyce (AIi), Haley, Drew (AIi), Marissa, Mya, Marsay (Mahaley). Yvonne will be deeply missed but will forever remain in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity or organization in her memory.
