Clara Mae Davis was born on May 8, 1938 in Sturgis, Mississippi to the late Archie Davis, Sr; and Tommye Louise (Bardwell) Davis. She acquired her formal education in the Sturgis, Mississippi Public School System and took some college courses at Rust College. Clara accepted Christ as her Savior at Liberty Hill United Methodist Church. Clara married John C. Davis and to this union were blessed with two children. Upon relocating to Milwaukee,Wisconsin, she joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Alexander and the late Rev. W.J. Calvin. Upon transitioning to Greater Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Clara served under the leadership of Rev. Kenneth Cutler. She was an active member of the Altar Guild and chairwoman over the Pastor's Annual Anniversary Celebrations. Clara worked at JH Collectibles for 36 years and Aldrich Chemicals for 10 years. In her leisure she enjoyed traveling, planning weddings, sewing, cooking, baking, playing the piano and modeling. Clara Mae Davis stepped away from this earthly body to stand in the presence of the Lord on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at 2:55 A.M. She is preceded in death by her parents, Archie Davis, Sr; and Tommye Louise Davis, along with godparents Harry Wheeler and Martha Wheeler, one brother, Archie Davis, Jr; four sisters, Odelle D. Dockins, Bessie L Gooden, Queen Burroughs and Fannie Mae Barron. She leaves to mourn her loss and celebrate her life: her daughter, Tracy V. Davis-Wright; son, Terrence B. Davis both of Milwaukee, WI; two grandchildren, Marcus B. (Nicole) Crumble of Milwaukee, WI and A'Lantra T. Wright of Houston, TX; six great- grandchildren, Quentin Crumble, Chloe Crumble, Arolyn Crumble, Samaira Habeck, Melody Habeck and Emery Habeck all of Milwaukee, WI; sister, Elousie (Joe) Shanks of Waynesboro, MS; sister-in-law, Marie Davis from Milwaukee, WI; two brothers-in-law, Joe T. Dockins of Jackson, MS and Earl Gooden of Clarksdale, MS; goddaughter, Marda M. (Darren) Jones of Milwaukee, WI; two special friends for over fifty years; Lois Love of Prentiss, MS and Timmye Yates of Milwaukee,WI; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and her sister in christ, Mae Kern and the entire Greater Mt. Zion Church family. Who can find a Virtuous Woman! "For her price is far above rubies. Strength and honor are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
