Mrs. Doris Jean Matthews Easter

September 18, 1938 - December 31, 2021

Doris Jean Mathews was born the third of six children on September 18, 1938, in Calhoun County, Arkansas, to Hugh Mathews and Alphania (Rogers) Mathews. Doris received her formal education within the Fordyce, Arkansas School System. She furthered here education at Milwaukee Area Technical College. On September 19, 1958, Doris united in holy matrimony with Eugene Easter, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Their union was blessed with three children; Sheri Lynn Easter, Brenda Kay Easter Hardiman and Linda Fay Easter. Doris was a lifelong member of St. Mark AME Church, joining the church shortly after arriving in Milwaukee in 1957. Doris was employed by Milwaukee County and worked at the Department of Human Services as a Financial Assistance worker until her retirement. In her leisure, Doris enjoyed sewing, quilting and baking. While a participant at the Clinton and Bernice Rose Senior Center, Doris was also a member of the Dustbusters Dance Group. In addition, Doris volunteered for the Hunger Task Force for three years. Doris Jean Mathews Easter departed this life on December 31, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Alphania Mathews; sisters, Kathryn Childs, Delores Brown, Joyce Ann Dixon; brothers, Hughey Dean Mathews, James Kenneth Mathews, Henry Mathews; husband, Eugene; and daughter, Linda. Doris leaves to cherish her memory; daughters, Sheri Lynn Easter and Brenda Easter Hardiman, both of Milwaukee, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
