Mrs. Ellen Russ

May 11, 1934 - March 9, 2022

On May 11, 1934, Harless Hall and Mary E. Singleton-Hall became the proud parents of a bundle of joy, Ellen Hall, in Delhi, Louisiana. She was the third child of five children. Ellen received her early education in Franklin Parish at Waverly High School, where she was a very good student and excelled in basketball. After graduation, she moved to Milwaukee and met the love of her life, Joe Lee Russ, Sr. They were united in matrimony in November of 1959. This union was blessed with five children. She was a loving wife and mother. After the children were in school, she worked at McDonalds for a while, that she really enjoyed! Sister Russ united with Ellison Chapel A.M.E. Church where she served faithfully for many years as a Secretary and a member of the Usher Board. On March 9, 2022, an angel ushered her home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harless Hall and Mary E. Singleton-Hall; two brothers, AB Bates and Millard Bates; one sister, Maple Stubblefield; and one daughter, Abby Russ. She leaves to cherish her memory: three daughters, Ernestine (Bill) White of Monroe, Louisiana, Charlesanne Wilson of Milwaukee; and Linda Thomas of Milwaukee; one son, Joe Lee Russ, Jr. of Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin; one sister, Beatrice Griffin of Shreveport, Louisiana; nine grandchildren, Juwan Baber, Jamal Russ, Ashalon Thomas, Courtney (Chris) Hansen, Cornesha Thomas, Tiffany Wilson, Dyron Russ, Bill White, Jr., and Charlotte (Eric) Lawrence; fourteen great grandchildren; and a host of loving friends, nieces, and nephews.
