Mrs. Ernestine McGahee

October 22, 1956 - April 27, 2021

Ernestine McGahee (maiden name - Barnett) was born on October 22,1956 to Rodie Carol Barnett and Cliff Barnett in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Ernestine was educated in the Milwaukee Public School System. She was one of the first black students to attend Clara Barton Elementary School and she also took courses at Milwaukee Area Technical College. She worked in clerical positions and also danced professionally. Ernestine married the love of her life, Edward McGahee, in 1995. She was the proud Mother of two sons, Heron A. Barnett and Saul Barnett. Together her sons blessed her with six grandchildren, Heron A. Barnett,Jr., N-Zaree Williams-Barnett, Elijah Barnett, Saul Barnett, Jr, and twin girls, Zamara and Camara Barnett. She loved her children and grandchildren with every ounce of her being. She had an outgoing personality, a beautiful smile, she was generous, and she stayed in touch with family. She enjoyed music, shopping, fashion and dancing. She was fond of discussing the bible and attended church with members of her extended family. Being the youngest girl in her immediate family growing up, she was doted on and adored by all of her siblings and we love her, still. Ernestine is worth¥ of praise and her life was not lived in vain. Ernestine McGahee transitioned on April 27, 2021. Her spirit is free praise the lord. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rodie Carol Barnett and Cliff Barnett and her brother, Tommie Lee Barnett. Ernestine is survived by her loving husband Edward McGahee, her sons, Heron and Saul, five siblings, Virginia Little, Johnie Williams, Bettie Rodgers, Henry Barnett and Doris Barnett, six beloved grandchildren, two Aunts, Ira Jones and Dorothy Cooper, and a host of sister-cousins, brother-cousins, other relatives and friends. The Family especially thanks Lena Adams for her kindness and generous support and Earl Davis for being there. "And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them." Revelations 14-13
