Mrs. Eva G. Davis

July 12, 1942 - January 17, 2022

Eva (Bates) Davis was born July 12, 1942, in Brownsville (Haywood County) Tennessee to the union of Jim Sr. and Millie (Bond) Bates. She was the fourth of six children born to the Bates family. At a young age, Eva gave her life to Christ. She united with Mercer Baptist Church in Brownsville, Tennessee, where she was baptized and song in the youth choir. She received her education within the Haywood County School System and graduated from Carver High School in the class of 1961 . Shortly after, she married her "High School Sweetheart", Howard Davis Sr. on June 10, 1961. This union produced five children: Phyllis, Howard Jr., Debbie, Rickie and Stevie. Eva had resided in Milwaukee for many years. After relocating to Milwaukee in 1962, she united with Metropolitan Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. E.M. Kelly. She served faithfully as a long time member of the Metropolitan Gospel Chorus and the Sanctuary Choir, Eva's years of employment included over 30 cumulative years in various service, healthcare and manufacturing areas. She retired in 2003. Her hobbies included gardening, watching TV, and traveling to visit family. She enjoyed joking around with people she knew well and was very fun loving. Eva made her transition peacefully early Monda· morning January 17,2022 at Froedtert Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Debbie Davis; and three siblings, Audrey Ector, Eddie Bates and Jim Bates Jr. She is survived by her loving husband of sixty years, Howard Davis Sr.; children, Phyllis Davis-Mitchell. Howard Davis Jr.. Rickie (Sheran) Davis and Stevie Davis, all of Milwaukee; sister, Lettie Giles of Nashville, Tennessee; brother, Charles (Ella) Bates of Brownsville, TN; sisters-in-law, Dora (William) Mann and Josie Davis of Brownsville, TN; Jearlean Sykes of Milwaukee, Wl; Christine (Sam) Pewett of Owensboro, Kentucky; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild; any other relative, nieces, nephews and friends.
