Freeman Simmons Jr. was born on October 19, 1940, to the union of Freeman Simmons Sr. and Eloise LeCote in Barnwell County, South Carolina. Freeman received his formal education at Martha Schofield High School in Aiken, South Carolina. Freeman accepted Christ as his Savior at a young age and was united with Graceland Missionary Baptist Church. He later united with Chosen Generation Ministries where he served as an usher and Sunday school teacher. On April 8, 1995, Freeman Simmons Jr. was united in holy matrimony with Shirley Washington-Simmons in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Their union was blessed with one child. In 1959, Freeman enlisted into the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1962. He had various employers, including Tower Automotive/ AO. Smith, Lakeside Bus Company, and Civil Service. In his leisure, Freeman enjoyed watching movies, eating, and reading books. Freeman Simmons Jr. departed this life on July 11, 2022. He was preceded in death by: father, Freeman Simmons Sr.; mother, Eloise LeCote; wife, Shirley Washington-Simmons; and children, Sherry Simmons and Freeman Clement Simmons III. He leaves to cherish his memory: children, Kelli Simmons, Tito Simmons, Dominique Simmons, Rikki Simmons, and Lee Simmons; sister, Lois Williams; brother, Spurgeon (Artistine) Simmons; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
