A Life Well Lived James Edward Reed was born in Lucy, Tennessee on August 24, 1936, where he lived with his mother, sisters and grandparents. He accepted Christ at an early age at Little John Baptist Church. He moved to Milwaukee with his mother and sisters, and attended Fourth Street School and Lincoln High School. As a boy he was proud of his participation in the Boy Scouts and in high school he was a notable scholar and athlete. As a young man he met the love of his life, Olivia Veals, to whom he was married on Feb 24,1962. To this union two children were born and this loving union persisted until death temporarily parted them on August 17, 2005. The bulk of his professional career was spent with the US Postal Service, where he rose through the ranks to be the supervisor in charge of installing automated accounting systems at post offices throughout the Midwest. In his free time he enjoyed golfing, talking cars with his son, sharing his love of language and local landmarks with his daughter, and later, taking great pride in his five grandchildren. James Edward Reed is preceded in death by his mother, Lola (Hayes) McCoy, his wife, Olivia Reed, and a nephew, Bryant Reed. He is survived by his sisters, Elizabeth Williams and Delores Hayes, a sister-in-law, Beverly Donalson, children Kirsten Thompson and Brandon (Lisette) Reed, grandchildren Ryan Cameron, Christian and Jalen Reed and Nola Thompson, and one great granddaughter, Mila Reigh Reed. Also, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. James Edward Reed was born to eternal life on June 28, 2022.
