Mr. Johnnie Willie Dawsey A.K.A. Dorsey Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Johnnie Willie Dawsey, also known as "Buddy" by family and friends, the second of three children was born March 10, 1933, to Emma Lizo and Kelly Dawsey. Johnnie was raised along with his two siblings, Kelly and Vera, by his mother and stepfather Johnnie Matthews in Perry, Georgia. Buddy was much doted on by his mother, Emma Liza. He enjoyed playing baseball, driving fine cars, and being a Casanova to many women, as many young men do. After Highschool he was drafted into the Army from 1953-1955. His basic training was at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He was then stationed in Alaska, not sure which base Fort Richardson or Fort Wainwright. Regardless of which Fort, he enjoyed that duty station. He often said "If he could have stayed in Alaska he would have reenlisted. Johnnie was united in holy matrimony with Zelma Wilkerson in 1956, until her death in 2017. Their union produced two daughters, Jacqueline and Felicia. He also has two other children, Johnny Wayne and Gwendolyn, from a previous relationship. He was employed by American Motors for thirty plus years as a Line Auto worker. He was a UAW (United Auto Worker) union member and union representative during his time there. As he aged, watching Golf, Tennis, and going to the Casinos to gamble was his enjoyment. On May 14, 2022, at the VA hospital in Milwaukee, he lost his battle with Bone Cancer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Zelma Wilkerson; daughter, Felicia Dawsey; mother, Emma Liza; dad, Kelly Dawsey Sr.; stepfather, Johnnie Matthews; bother, Kelly Dawsey Jr.; and sister, Vera Solomon. He leaves to cherish his memory children, grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and a host of family and friends to mourn his loss and remember him fondly in their own way.
