August 18, 1932 - November 21, 2021
Leota Francis Hardison was born on August 18, 1932, to the union of Forest and Louella Franklin in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Leota received her formal education at St. Francis and St. Benedict for grade school, and then graduated from Lincoln High School in Milwaukee, in the class of 1950. On April 26, 1955, Leota Franklin united in holy matrimony with Ausbey Hardison in Milwaukee, WI. With this union Leota and Ausbey blended their two small families into one: blessing them with nine children. In her leisure, Leota enjoyed listening to music, dancing, and most of all her family. Leota was better known as Young Gates, Mrs. Gates or by the name she loved most, Grandma Gates. As long as there was a nice breeze spring, summer or fall you would find Mrs. Gates sitting on the front steps of 410 enjoying the weather, listening to music, watching the kids play while Teda barbecued as they both indulged in a "cold one." Everyone that came to her home was treated like family she loved everyone. Always smiling and dancing in her chair, nothing made her happier than music and her family ... especially seeing her all the grand kids. Leota Hardison departed this life on November 21, 2021. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Forest and Louella Franklin; sisters, Alice Scott and Maxine Sober; brother, Forrest "Teddy" Franklin; husband, Ausbey Hardison; sons, Jeffrey Hardison, Michael Hardison, and Anthony Hardison; and daughter, Kotelia Hardison. J She leaves to cherish her memory: sisters, Barbara Griffin and Helen Early; brother-in-law, Wesley Sober; sons, Leonard (Angela) Hardison, and Ausbey P. Hardison III; daughters, Barbara (Jamisen Sr.) Branch, Kimberly Hardison, and Elvy Davis; and an abundance of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
