Miss Teighlor Countessa McGee
March 7, 1998 - April 2, 2022
On a snowy Saturday morning in Milwaukee, Wisconsin like the weather we've been having, this day, 24 years ago was really special. A beautiful baby girl was born, Teighlor Countessa McGee. Her bright smile and inquisitive nature calmed the stormy weather and brought out the sun. Teighlor had a never-ending hunger to learn. She knew how to read by the time she was two. Kindergarten bored her so she skipped to the first grade. And she never stopped running her race. After graduating from Homestead High School, she attended St. Catherine’s University in St. Paul, Minnesota. While at St.Kate's Teighlor's passion for poetry, writing and spoken-word performing really blossomed, and so did her activism. She created The Black Disability Collective, an online movement focused on the narratives and lives of black disabled individuals. She has more than 18 thousand followers. All of this while masterfully balancing a career as the communication director at Women for Political Change and writing for the Autistic Self-Advocacy Network and being a feature writer for countless online and print magazines. Teighlor loved the Lord, her family, friends, and baking. She was a remarkable young lady. Teighlor now has a new position, an Angel in Heaven.
