Tereatha McCoy (Ward) was born August 7, 1928, in Dermott, Arkansas to the union of Rev. John E. Ward and Elsie Coleman. She attended Rose Hill Elementary School and Dermott High School. She professed a love for Christ at an early age and was baptized in faith by her father, Rev. John E. Ward at Rose Hill Baptist Church in Dermott, Arkansas. Tereatha relocated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1945, here she joined in holy matrimony with Harvey McCoy, Jr. on December 21, 1957. She united with Tabernacle Baptist Church and attended service there for many years before joining Grace Assembly Baptist Church under the leadership of her late son-in-law, Rev. Willie Jiles. After leaving grace Assembly Baptist Church, she united with New Haven Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. M.A. Coken before finding her permanent home at Lamb of God MBC in 2012, under the leadership of Rev. Christopher A Boston. Tereatha was employed at Milwaukee County Medical Complex for 23 years until her retirement in March of 1989. She was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling and visited the White House during President Oba ma's presidency. Tereatha had many talents; knitting, sewing, and gardening just to name a few. Tereatha departed this life on Sunday February 6, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. John E. Ward and Elsie Coleman; husband, Harvey McCoy Jr.; son, Leron McCoy; brothers, John C. Ward, George Ward, Charles Ward and Albert Ward; sisters, Lovie Johnson and Mary Newell; grandsons, Willie Jiles III, Gregory Jiles, Earl Jiles Jr., and Gregory Jiles. She leaves to celebrate her homegoing: sons, Edward Lee (Gisele) and Kenneth Ward; daughters, Eloise Jordan, Essie Jiles, Helen McCoy, Brenda Tobias (Huey), Lucinda Johnson, and Lisa Rux; sisters, Janice Woods, Betty Ward-Farr, Barbara Ward-Kennedy and Samantha Ward-Parker; brothers, Earl Johnson (Frankie) and Rev. Carl Ward; twenty grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews; many special relatives and dear friends.
