Verdie Mae Critton was born on December 9, 1933, to parents, Ira Box and Annie Buser in Camden, Arkansas. She received her formal education with the Camden Public School System. Verdie accepted Christ as her personal Savior at a very young age and united with St. James Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor James L. Humphreys. She remained active until her health began to fail. On January 5, 1952, Verdie Mae Box united in holy matrimony with Elijah Critton, in Quachita County, Arkansas. Their union was blessed with eight children. They soon relocated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she was employed by Blue Cross Blue Shield as a file clerk for many years until her retirement. In her leisure she enjoyed cooking, being with family, attending church, watching ghost stories, westerns, and Meerkat Manor. She was an astounding woman, daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, friend and Christian. She was beautiful, humble, caring, kind, thoughtful, loving, dependable, loyal; giving, forgiving, understanding and selfless. She was DEAR. Verdie Mae Critton departed this life on October 31, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elijah Critton; parents, Ira Box and Annie Buser; son, Myron Anthony Critton, and brother, Charles Buser. She leaves to cherish her memory: children, Mark (Catherine), Michael (Elaine), Michelle, Melanie, Mickey, Mitchell, and Melissa Critton; niece, Debra; one sister, Diane Buser of Camden, AK; three brothers, James Horton of Milwaukee, Dean Buser of Milwaukee, and Ricky Buser of Camden, AK; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, a large extended family, and friends.
