Mrs. Altha Mae Myrick

Altha M. Myrick was born on July 20, 1934, in Grenada, Mississippi to Roebuck and Alice Willis. Raised in a Christian home with her parents, she was the third of thirteen children. Her fondest memory was working in her grandfather's, "PaPa Joe" store in Mississippi. She received her formal education within the Piney Woods School system, in Piney Woods, Mississippi. Altha accepted Christ, as her Savior and experienced her early spiritual training at Pleasant Grove Missionary Tabernacle Community Baptist Church, until health challenges unfolded. Altha loved the Lord. She served under two pastors, Reverend Robert L. Harris and current pastor, Reverend Don Darius Butler. Altha was given comfort and support, in her last days by her pastor, family, caregivers and members of Tabernacle Community Baptist Church. Altha Myrick was united in holy matrimony with Luther James Carlisle. To this union, they raised one son, the late James Anthony Carlisle. She retired from Masterlock, after a number of years of service before her health failed. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, family, special friends, shopping, gardening, holiday cooking, attending Good Friday service, Friday fish fry and worship services at Tabernacle. Altha shared so much love for her grandchildren, her babies. She was always there for field trips, doing laundry, teaching and sharing things with them. On November 3, 2017, Altha found peace with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her: only son, James Anthony Carlisle; parents, Roebuck and Alice Willis; brothers, Ervin and Duery Willis; and sisters, Lorie Willis and Dorthey Reedy. She leaves to cherish her memories her: grandchildren: Jason Carlisle and Kristi Carlisle; great grandchild, Kaiden Powell; like a daughter, Geneva Carlisle; sisters: Courtney (John) Hunter of Milwaukee, WI, Gloria Hearon of Memphis, TN, Eelanor Willis of Woodbridge, VA, Claudette Willis of Greenwood, MS and Francies (Byron) Slack of Valdosta, GA; brothers: Roebuck Willis of Hampton, VA, Billy (Carolyn) Willis of Greenwood, MS and Ralph (Lynda) Willis of Fort Worth, TX; special nieces and nephews, and a host of other loving family members and dear friends.
