Ms. Barbara Ann Conley

Barbara Ann Conley was born on October 21, 1956, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to the union of Thelma Brown and Frederick Gray Sr. She received her formal education in the Milwaukee Public School system and was a proud graduate of Rufus King High School. She later continued her studies at Milwaukee Area Technical College, where she completed training as a Ward Secretary. Barbara accepted Christ at an early age at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Milwaukee under the leadership of the late Rev. R.L. Lathan. She remained a devoted and faithful member throughout her entire life. Under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Archie L. Ivy, she joyfully served as an alto in the Sanctuary Choir and participated actively in church activities for many years. Her faith was a guiding light, shaping her character and the way she cared for others. As a young girl, Barbara cherished time spent with her family, including her parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Family was always at the center of her heart. As a teen, Barbara met Jerry Conley, and the two were later united in marriage on February 26, 1977. Their union was blessed with three children: Anthony, Christopher, and Jerri Lynn, who were her greatest joy and life’s purpose. Barbara dedicated 49 years of service to the Department of Veteran Affairs as a Medical Support Assistant. Her commitment, professionalism, and compassion touched countless lives throughout her long and meaningful career. In her leisure time, Barbara enjoyed attending church, visiting Potawatomi, and caring for her family. She especially loved traveling to spend time with relatives near and far. She also enjoyed playing Spades, always ready for a little friendly competition, listening to music that brought her joy, and cooking her famous chicken and dressing that her family always looked forward to. Though she was naturally quiet and private, those who knew her well were blessed by her warm spirit, gentle presence, and wonderfully sharp sense of humor that could brighten any room. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her. On Saturday, January 3, 2026, Barbara Conley peacefully departed this life surrounded by her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thelma Brown and Frederick Gray Sr.; grandparents, Bill Buggs and Cora Isbell Buggs; siblings, Frederick Gray Jr., Lawrence Gray, and April Merrills; uncle, Bobby Gene Buggs; and other beloved family members. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted children: Anthony (Hodah) Conley, Christopher Conley, and Jerri Lynn (Brian) Schuster; her siblings, Donald (Lillie) Gray and Latoya (Charles) Allison; ten grandchildren: Jalen, Kayla, Tai’lor, Tyler, Justin, Anwar, Aaliyah, Chloe, Cayden, and Carter; and one great-grandson, Ja’sai. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and many dear friends who will forever hold her in their hearts.
