Mr. Charles James Davis

Charles J. Davis was born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 2,1961, to the union of the late Arthur J. Davis, Sr., and the late Beverly H. Davis. He received his formal education from Milwaukee Public School System, where he finished his education at Solomon Juneau High School. Charles made his confession to Jesus Christ at First Baptist Church of Milwaukee, WI under the leadership of Pastor J.E. Campbell. He later joined Kingdom Living Christian Church of Milwaukee, WI under the leadership of Rev. Dr. George Lasley III of Milwaukee, WI. Charles was a dedicated member and a faithful musician with an eager to share his faith and testimony with his signature sound that invoked the spirit of God. Charles learned to play string instruments, at an early age, starting with the bass guitar, then proceeding to learn the lead guitar. He spent countless hours perfecting his God given gift and became a skillful musician. He helped to form the gospel quartet group "The Gospel Commandments" of Milwaukee, WI along with his dad the late Arthur J. Davis, Sr., brother, Pastor Kenneth D. Davis, Sr., and cousins, Elder Willie Davis and Lee Van Cotton. The additions to the group were; Linda, Sue, Lisa, Thara, Debra, and the late Pastor Cedric Pride. The group was very passionate about spreading the gospel in and out of town. He also played for other gospel quartet groups within the city of Milwaukee. In addition, Charles had a remarkable talent for fixing cars, a skill that was both a passion and a gift. Whether it was a minor tune-up or a major engine repair, he approached every job with patience, precision, and a deep understanding of how things worked. Charles also enjoyed traveling and spending quality time with his family and friends, especially when everyone was together. Charles was gainfully employed throughout his career. Prior to his early retirement, he worked over 20+ years at Froedtert Memorial Hospital, Milwaukee, WI. He leaves to cherish his memory, the love of his life of 39 years, Patricia A. Lewis, his beloved children - Tracy Lewis (Tasha), Charles D. Lewis, Stephanie S. Lasley (George), four grandchildren - Jonheim King, Nychea Lewis, Charles Lewis Jr; and Londyn Lewis, two brothers- Arthur J. Davis, Jr., of Bridgeport, CT., Pastor Kenneth D. Davis, Sr. (Linda) of Urbana, IL and two sisters- Aretha Johnson, of St. Louis, MO., and Bartina D. Hart, of Nashville, TN., and a host of very special nieces, nephews other family members, and many friends. Charles transitioned on May 9, 2025. He was surrounded by his companion, children, and grandchildren. He fought a good fight with his family by his side, witnessing him resting peacefully and no longer in pain. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur J. Davis, Sr., and Beverly H. Davis, and his two brothers, Anthony S. Davis and Jason S. Davis.
