Mr. Demetrious James Brown

Born on March 21, 1967, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to the union of Shadric Brown, Jr. and Carolyn Brown, Demetrious was raised with equal parts discipline and affection. Guided by the love of his parents, grandparents, and older brother Devon, he grew into a compassionate son and grandson who held his family close to his heart. Demetrious married his former wife, Vanessa Claypool, in Milwaukee. To their union, they were blessed with their daughter Synclair and twins, Chanel and Chasen. He was also the proud father of his eldest daughter, Chiffon. A dedicated father, he offered his children wisdom, guidance, and unwavering encouragement, always urging them to chase their passions and live boldly. Demetrious was educated in the Milwaukee Public School System and graduated from Custer High School in 1985. He played both Little League and Senior League baseball and was even featured on the 1978 Beckum-Stapleton Little League directory cover as a standout pitcher. With an innate sense of duty, he proudly served in the United States Army. After his honorable discharge, he pursued further education at DeVry University and earned his commercial driver's certification, embarking on a career as a long-distance truck driver. His work carried him across the country, offering him a unique window into the world until retirement due to disability. His devotion to Christ was only challenged by his love for music. Often witnessed by the twinkle in his eye when speaking on either of the two. Demetrious demonstrated a fortified passion! He had a unique perspective and was unapologetic about it. In his later years, he became a beacon of positivity on social / media-regularly sharing encouragement, reflections, and heartfelt advice with loved ones and followers alike. He was a man of gentle strength and quick wit. His warm smile and uplifting presence brought joy to those lucky enough to know him. He enjoyed attending family holiday gatherings and cherished time with his children and close friends, always generous with laughter and kindness. Demetrious was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents Ellis and Sudie Pearl Gee and Shadric and Beatrice Brown; his uncle Glasgow Gee; and his first cousin William A. Harrell. Demetrious' memory is carried forward by his brother Devon Brown; children Chiffon (Lavall) Carson, Synclair Brown, Chasen (Stephanie) Brown, and Chanel Brown; and his grandchildren Chloe Parker, Chasen Brown, Jr., Caius Brown, and Isla Brown. He is also lovingly remembered by his aunts Beverly Harrell Huff, Debra Gerome) Wallace, and Carol (Lennie) Turner; and special cousins, Robert Scott, Sharon Gee, Jocelyn (Anthony Sr.) Whorton, Devin Wallace, Kyle Wallace, Alexis Huff, Brandon Turner, Jordan Turner, Anthony Whorton, Jr., William Whorton, Matthew Whorton, Madelyn Whorton, Madison Turner, and Mason Huff. His extended family includes William W. Harrell and the Harris Family, along with many cherished relatives and a wide circle of dear friends. Demetrious leaves behind more than memories-he leaves behind a legacy of compassion, faith, and resilience that continues to inspire all who knew and loved him. Demetrious was a soldier of life!
